For all of you that loved the vivid descriptions and world building of the first series - pick up this book immediately! We get to see more of Tellurak - and the new world, Korr, just jumps of the pages (well, ok, screen) to create some really stunning visuals of an almost steampunk underground civilization.

Here's the set-up:
The world told her No. She didn’t listen.

Madlin Errol is heiress to the greatest fortune in Tellurak. Her father, the Mad Tinker, has built an empire by crafting devices that no one else in the world could match. Madlin grew up spoiled, given everything she could wish for: the finest tools, all the raw metals she could ask for, and a workshop of her very own. Yet in her sleep, she lives another life, in another world.

Korr...a world where humans are subjugated, working menial jobs or even enslaved. The ruling kuduks treat them like talking animals. In that world, Madlin is known as Rynn, a girl who grew up without her parents, mired in the depths of an underground city, sleeping in a boiler room. But unlike so many of her fellow humans, she has seen a world where there are no limits. She, and a growing number of human rebels, have begun to fight back.
One Reviewer Notes:
I'm not sure if it's the steampunk-y vibe, the grittiness or that I just always loved rooting for the underdog, but I was really sad when I was done reading this book. Thankfully the next one should be out soon! It's a bit shorter than previous works but that doesn't detract from the story. There is less exposition and more story in this book so we get to the action almost straight away. NOTE: You do not have to have previously read the Twinborn Trilogy to enjoy this book. It stands on it's own just fine. However, it's sort of the same universe, but focusing on different places. So if you have read the Twinborn Trilogy it will add another layer of understanding to the reading of this book.

If you love the classic epic fantasy greats, but hunger for a refreshing concept, the Twinborn Trilogy delivers!

One world of magic. One world of reason. Two lives intertwined in connection mistaken for a dream.

By day, Kyrus Hinterdale lives the mundane life of a scribe. By night, he lives out the adventures of Brannis Solaran, a failed sorcerer turned knight. When Brannis leads his battalion into the forest on a routine scouting mission, they are overwhelmed by a goblin force. While leading the survivors to regroup and prepare the empire for the inevitable war, Brannis struggles to understand why a scribe from his own dreams, suddenly seems to be able to perform the magic he never could.

As the two discover the reality of their connection, their comfortable lives begin to unravel. Now they have to share knowledge between worlds to stay a step ahead of the mysteries piling up. Who is behind the unprovoked goblin attacks? How will a world dominated by reason react to the presence of magic? Who is the quiet stranger in the woods who refuses to give his name? And who might be playing a deadly game, with pawns in both worlds?
One Reviewer Notes:
The mark of a great storyteller is being able to tell a story using familiar themes and plots in novel ways. Fantasy novels have used the idea of parallel worlds, doppelgangers, and science vs magic for many years. It is a theme that often feels repetitive to me and doesn't offer much in new ideas. This book blew me away and captivated me from start to finish. Many characters are well fleshed out and often shown in shades of grey. Good guys can do bad things depending on the situation, and the bad guys do have good moments and may even do something honorable. Black and white characters are boring. Mr Morin created a great book and can't wait to see how his story continues in the next book !

Ever wonder what happens to the people you dream about after you wake up? Do they dream about you?

Twinborn Trilogy
By J.S. Morin
Books 1 and 2 available now

Kyrus Hinterdale has never dreamed. Neither has Brannis Solaran. What they once thought were dreams were really windows into another world. Linked by fate, and a mystical connection that they do not fully understand, each of them watches the events of the other’s life when they close their eyes to sleep. Kyrus’ world is ruled by reason and bustling trade, while Brannis lives in a world of magic and fabulous creatures.

When they cross paths with another pair with knowledge from both worlds, it becomes a battle of wits – each must try to outmaneuver the other, with the fate of kingdoms, and their own lives, at stake.

I loved the unique storyline. It was such a refreshing concept, unlike the similarities seen among many fantasy novels. The idea of the duel storyline, with corresponding characters in two different worlds was unique and fascinating.”

There’s a lot about the world that neither you nor the characters know about in the beginning, and that keeps you guessing and reading just one more chapter, just one more chapter…”

“This is some serious, classic fantasy. This is sword and sorcery, high fantasy, epic, hard fantasy, you name it.”

“One truly impressive thing was how the author created two different worlds. Whenever I was reading, even without being told which characters were there, I could always tell which world I was in. Most authors struggle to come up with depth in their worlds; this author manages to do it twice.”

Firehurler, Book 1 of the Twinborn Trilogy, introduces us to scribe Kyrus Hinterdale and knight Brannis Solaran just as they are discovering their strange connection. Kyrus’ quiet life begins to unravel as he learns to harness a fantastic power that has been denied to Brannis by a twist of fate. Pitted against another pair with the same type of connection, the two must find a way to protect Brannis’ homeland before everything both of them knows is destroyed.

5-Star Amazon Review

Here’s the set-up:

Aethersmith, Book 2 of the Twinborn Trilogy, follows Kyrus and Brannis as they learn the intricacies of what it means to be Twinborn. Though they discovered their connection only recently, now that their eyes have been opened, they see that there are more Twinborn like them than they had realized. However, just as plans start to come together to fight back, a spell of Kyrus’ goes very wrong, and the two find themselves in an even bigger dilemma than ever. With the help of other Twinborn, they struggle to gain the upper hand in the war, and set everything back as it should be.

5-Star Amazon Review

“Aethersmith is a great second book from the trilogy continuing all the intrigue from Firehurler. The reader gets to explore more of both worlds as the story weaves itself through new lands in each world. As I had hoped, more characters are revealed to be twins. Some of the twins are new characters but others are already familiar. There is alway the question, Who else might be a twin? As with Firehurler, the detail of Aethersmith envelopes the reader in two worlds that seem very real, and characters that seem more like friends. Very well written. I couldn’t stop reading. I can’t wait for more!”

“I was an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader in the past, but haven’t been reading much recently. Stumbling upon Firehurler was a stroke of luck; it was an enjoyable read and made me hunger for more (both from this author, and it also rekindled my desire to go back and re-read my fantasy favorites from other authors).”

“Make sure you’re well-rested before starting this book; it’s very hard to put it down! Lost a lot of sleep because of the “just one more chapter” syndrome. If you like the fantasy genre, you’re going to love this book! The characters are completely believable; they have virtues and flaws just like in the real world. And the concept of the storyline is very intriguing. Fantasy lovers – you need this series in your library!”
