FEEL THE RUSH! BARGAIN BOOK ALERT! Buy One eBook, Get Two Bestsellers Free!

Today’s Bargain Book Alert places the spotlight on author Richard Bard’s “Feel the Rush” promotion, which is designed to be a win-win for everyone: you get three books for the price of one — including two Kindle bestsellers! — and Richard gets a chance to find another fan for his novel BRAINRUSH.

And if that isn’t reason enough to give BRAINRUSH a try, consider the fact that this page-turner of a novel has already garnered 15 straight 5-star reviews from Kindle readers and, as Richard relates below, it has scored kudos from at least one celebrity reader:

Show of hands—How many of you are Crosby, Stills & Nash fans?  If you’re over 30, you’ve got a hand up, over 55 and you’ve got two hands up.  And you younger folks…you’re fans too, even though you may not know it; you hum along to their songs everyday on the radio, never realizing the artists behind the music are the voice of three generations.

I’m a big fan—always have been—so imagine my elation two weeks ago when I received an email from David Crosby telling me that he absolutely loved my debut thriller, BRAINRUSH.  And he wasn’t kidding; he even gave a shout-out at the MUSE benefit concert at the Shoreline Pavilion in SF on August 7th, with the likes of Jackson Brown, Bonnie Raitt, John Hall and a bunch of others on the scene.  Now that’s a brain-rush!

Nothing would make me happier than for you to share David’s excitement over my new thriller.  That’s why I’ve come up with a unique promotion that gifts you two (2) Bestsellers from the Top-10 PAID Kindle-Bestseller list when you purchase BRAINRUSH for $2.99.

Here’s how it works:

You purchase the BRAINRUSH eBook for $2.99. Then just email a proof-of-purchase in the form of a screen-shot of your order confirmation, or simply forward the order-confirmation email you receive to Promo@RichardBard.com.

I will then immediately send you a gift certificate for each of these Kindle bestsellers:

As of Aug 22nd, they’re both in the Top 20 overall in the Kindle Store!

That’s it! No Tricks… No Gimmicks… No Obligation. Do I hope that you’ll read BRAINRUSH first? Sure! Am I keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll let me know how you feel about it by leaving a review on Amazon? Of course! But that’s entirely up to you. Happy reading!

Sincerely,

Richard Bard

An old love, a new murder. But where is the motive?

What About Alice?

4 Stars – 2 Reviews

Don’t have a Kindle? Get yours here.

Here’s the set-up:

When Robert Hanover died at the hands of his mistress, everyone grieved, but no one worried.

Jack Mercer, a former Texas Ranger turned private investigator, wasn’t satisfied that the woman charged with the crime was the murderer.

The case brought him up against the past, not only Hanover’s, but his own, as he was forced to consider a variety of suspects, one of them the woman he hadn’t seen for nine years. A woman who still fascinated him, despite his suspicions.

The last person Hope Smith wanted to see was Jack Mercer, especially since she still felt guilty about their relationship. Plus, he’d brought murder into her life and her quiet subdivision.

Was one of her friends a murderer?

One Reviewer Notes:

“Jack Mercer owns Mercer Enterprises, a private investigation firm. He is hired by the Public Defender’s office to find information which would assist in defending Yolanda Gutierrez against the charge of murder of Robert Hanover.

During the course of his investigation, he reconnects with Hope Donaldson, a grief counselor. Nearly 10 years ago, Hope and Jack were involved while they were working on an FBI task force in Washington, D.C. At the end of Hope’s internship with the FBI, she left DC without a word to Jack. Even though they now live in the same city, they have not crossed paths.

“Jack and Hope take us with them through the twists and turns of the investigation to a conclusion I didn’t see coming. Did Yolanda actually murder Robert? Who else would have a motive? And what was the motive? Did the nosy old man know more than he told the police? Did the step-daughter hate her step-father enough to kill him?

“It’s been a long time since I’ve read a really good mystery and What About Alice? made the wait worthwhile. The descriptions of the San Antonio locations were so vivid – like an artist painting a picture – and the story was enhanced by the bits of history woven throughout. I loved Jack and Hope. I found them to be very believable and thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship develop. If you like a good mystery, you will definitely enjoy What About Alice?

Kindle Nation Bargain Book Alert! Romi Moondi’s THE BOOK OF AWFUL is our eBook of the Day – 4 stars on 20 reviews and just 99 cents on Kindle for the key to happiness?

[LIMITED TIME SUMMER SALE: ONLY 99 CENTS!]

Here’s the set-up for Romi Mooni’s The Book of Awful, just 99 Cents on Amazon:

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all held hands and pooped rainbows?

Sure, but until our world becomes a technicolor paradise, what’s the REAL way for people to get happy?

Avoiding catastrophe.

This parody of “The Book of Awesome” outlines one awful(ly
ridiculous) scenario after the next, to demonstrate how much worse life
could really be. Whether it’s a world where you finally meet your evil
twin, the cancellation of Facebook, or the discovery of unicorns that
forever alters society, you’ll feel relieved you’re only READING about
it.

For ease of comprehension, the author lends her humble experiences to
several topics, and leaves no stone of embarrassment unturned (not even
the one where she had head lice as a grown adult).

To cover off a vast array of concerns, the book is sectioned off into highly relevant topics for mankind:

1. Self-Image
2. World Issues
3. Life Skills
4. Food and Drink
5. Society and You
6. Alternative Lifestyles
7. Stalking, Dating and Romance

You can read it all at once or jump in when you’re feeling blue. Not
that you’ll feel “awesome” by the time you’re finished…but
overwhelming relief?

Highly probable.

And relief isn’t far from happiness, is it? (Let’s not split hairs)

From the reviewers:

Great new voice.  I’ve never seen a better combination of racy wit,
sarcasm, pop culture awareness and (yet) humility. More importantly, I
laughed my you-know-what off too many times to count. Moondi has a
spectacular voice that’s on display on every page. Hopefully she can put
a few more books out before big media snatches her up and takes her
away. — Dave Conifer

I love cupcakes, the smell of bread baking, birds chirping and all
that malarky; but there’s nothing quite like the feeling of having
dodged a bullet. This book is a dense volume of bullet-dodging scenarios
that will not only leave you with that satisfying feeling of “glad I’m
that not that guy”, but also a thoroughly busted gut!  –  Danielle L.

Sarcastic, Cynical, Hilarious.  The minute I read the book blurb I
knew I needed this book. It was worth every penny. It’s so stinkin’
funny! Basically, if you want a fun read with cynical humor that will
make you laugh and feel just a little more grateful for what you have,
well this book’s for you. – Pamela

Romi Moondi writes a humor blog. In it she talks about her body, her
desire for sex/a mate/a boyfriend, her urban life, and pretty much
anything else she finds funny/ironic/sad.  There are a handful of laugh
out loud moments (maybe more if you are a single, urban, Indian-American
woman); certainly enough to justify the cost. Buy this e-book and read
it. – G. Jones

Do you really care what university I went to, whether or not I have
a fuzzy cat named Snowball (his name is actually Sammy), and how many
years I’ve been writing for?

I will assume you’re cooler than that, so the answer of course is no. What’s left then?

Okay I got it:

-I did not shy away from wearing denim-top-to-bottom in high school
(there is a direct inverse relationship between how much denim I wore
and how few tongues were launched down my throat at school dances…or
anywhere in high school at all).
-I’m continually baffled by that Malaysian baby whose father let him
smoke two packs of cigarettes a day. That baby had so many fat rolls,
and I thought cigarettes were supposed to be slimming.
-I always hated those insufferable couples who would cuddle and make
out on the subway…until I became half of one. But now I’m back to
being none of one so I hate them again.
I hope that will suffice for now, dear stranger. If not, feel free to follow my “over-share” account on twitter :-).

Regards, Romi

“A must-read for anyone who knows what it’s like to lose love and hope and to find hope and happiness.

–BookLove

Here’s the set-up:

What does it feel like to stare into the face of madness? Or to anticipate your own? Would you drive away your only love? Could you pretend it didn’t matter? How far would you go to protect a friend, or to avenge a death?

Ten years ago, Devon gave up the love of her life, fearing she would one day fall victim to the mental illness that has slowly ravaged the mind of her mother, who is now being cared for in a private facility.

Just when it seems Devon might have a chance to make up for past mistakes, her best friend Cass becomes a suspect in the murder of her sister’s drug-dealing boyfriend. Devon knows Cass is lying about the details of her involvement and the lead detective on the case, convinced that Cass is guilty, is relentless in his pursuit of justice.

When her mother’s young, emotionally disturbed roommate insinuates she knows something about the night of the murder, as well as details from Devon’s own life that no one else is privy to, Devon becomes desperate to uncover the truth before Detective Lake does. As the investigation continues, Devon is led down a path she never expected and forced to face her greatest fears of life and love.

Tangled in a web of lies, regrets and questions, can she find a way to let go of the past and start again? And, once the mystery is solved, can she live with the secrets she’s uncovered?

One Reviewer Notes:

“No one is perfect, and no one is without value. A Lighter Shade of Gray tells the story of Devon, a woman with much baggage in her life, fearing that she will one day fall into the mental illness that has befallen her mother. Her situation is made worse when her best friend becomes embroiled in a murder investigation, and Devon believes her to be lying about her involvement. A story of deception, betrayal, and facing the mistakes of one’s past while dealing with the future, A Lighter Shade of Gray is a riveting read that has much to make readers think.

–Midwest Book Review

KND Bargain Book Alert! Our eBook of the Day is not Charlie Chan’s Chinatown. Ty Hutchinson’s CHOP SUEY (A Darby Stansfield Thriller) is “intrinsically funny and inherently evil, a strangely intoxicating blend, one that keeps the action rolling” — 4.3 Stars on 39 Reviews and Just $2.99 on Kindle!

Here’s the set-up for Ty Hutchinson’s Chop Suey, just $2.99 on Kindle:

Start with one lovable dope.
Add a cook with a secret past.
Throw in a couple of gang members.
Mix in a pair of Chinatown detectives.
Combine it all with Ling Chi, death by 1,000 cuts.

And you have the perfect recipe for
Chop Suey.

When disgraced sales associate Darby Stansfield discovers he has six months to save his job, he does what any normal person would do. He freaks.

Desperate to resurrect his career at Teleco Wireless, he conjures up an international scheme filled with the promise of endless high-spending clients. It’s brilliant, it’s successful, and it involves doing business with organized crime.

But soon those closest to him find themselves caught up in his dangerous plan, and one of these unknowingly has the power to destroy him. Darby must now make a tough decision––give up on the one good idea he ever had or risk it all.

Chop Suey is a 90,000 word action thriller. That’s 381 pages of holy moly.

From the reviewers:

“Chop Suey is a fast, funny and well-plotted thriller––It’s not easy to write comedy, introduce a vicious serial killer, and navigate between the two.”––Reading Review

“It is both intrinsically funny and inherently evil, a strangely intoxicating blend, one that keeps the action rolling.”— SeattlePI

“Hutchinson did an excellent job of bringing his characters to life, weaving several stories together and bringing them to an exciting conclusion.”— The Book Review

My name is Ty Hutchinson and I’m from Hawaii. What does that mean? I don’t need to tan. Most days I’m a writer in the ad business. My work has appeared in all the major advertising award shows and reported on in publications like Advertising Age, Creativity, Communication Arts and Archive.

When I’m not building brands, you’ll find me traveling the world, playing video games, eating, reading, exploring SF’s Chinatown (to date I have six Shrimp Boy sightings) or hard at work writing thriller novels.

Here’s the set-up:
Now available from Pocket Books, the critically acclaimed book club favorite featuring a proud, sarcastic heroine with a quick wit, short fuse, and an affinity for Grey Goose vodka. Sassy and successful real estate agent Charisse Tyson has it all—the stately, three-story colonial, a dream job, and a 7-Series BMW. After two decades of tumultuous relationships with cheating men, she’s ready to overhaul her life and make some lasting changes. Charisse swears off dating and sex until she feels ready for a healthy relationship—but unfortunately stunningly sexy, charming Dwayne, a client of Charisse’s, comes along and her plans change. But can she learn from her past mistakes and learn to trust men—and herself?
Each day’s list is sponsored by one paid title. We encourage you to support our sponsors and thank you for considering them.
