About The Author

Ruth J. Hartman spends her days cleaning teeth, and her nights spinning sweet romantic tales that make you giggle, laugh, and all-out guffaw. She, her husband, and their two cats, love to spend time curled up in their recliners watching old Cary Grant movies. Well, the cats, Maxwell and Roxy, sit in the people’s recliners. Not that the cats couldn’t get their own furniture. They just choose to shed on someone else’s. You know how selfish those little furry creatures can be.

Ruth, a left-handed, tooth-scraping, Jeep driving, farmhouse-dwelling romance writer uses her goofy sense of humor as she writes tales of lovable, klutzy women and the men who adore them. Ruth’s husband and best friend, Garry, reads her manuscripts, rolls his eyes at her weird story ideas, and loves her in spite of her penchant for insisting all of her books have at least one cat in them. Or twelve. But hey, who’s counting?

There, she finds a secret river that plunges her into a technologically advanced world of nanobots and painful serums. Worse Than Being Alone

by Patricia Clark

5.0 stars – 4 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Worse Than Being Alone is a riveting tale involving multiple cons, a vicious murder, romance, betrayal, and escape as it vividly explores just how far all of us are prepared to go to avoid being alone.

Kitty and Roni are building their fledgling investigative agency by following workers’ comp cheats. Every PI’s dream of catching real criminals seems to be coming true when they begin to suspect one of their targets is engaged in more nefarious activities than just a bogus comp claim. Their cat and mouse game gets twisted when they realize they are the ones being stalked.

A personal and potentially lethal inquiry emerges after Roni’s father marries a woman with a checkered past, and they fear he has found his Worse Than Being Alone. When their investigation points to a shady past involving a trail of life insurance payouts and dead husbands, they wonder if Dad has married a Black Widow or an extremely unlucky woman.

As that case boils over, along comes the most talented con artist of them all. After his angry employer hires them to check him out, Kitty and Roni slowly come to realize he has the makings of a master criminal. They uncover numerous identities along with multiple workers’ comp claims. Then here are his almost daily trips to the same bank wearing different disguises.

Surprises abound as Kitty and Roni break up a sex slave ring, thwart a bank robbery, nab a shoplifter, and document a Black Widow’s treachery. A sudden death leaves them stunned as they second-guess their activities, forcing them to confront a murderer.

Medical drama, Sci-Fi & Romance all in one!! Kay Corcoran George’s Dr. Snake is Our eBook of the Day at $4.99, with 5.0 Stars on 1 Review, and Here’s a Free Sample

Here’s the set-up for Kay Corcoran George’s Dr. Snake, just $4.99 on Kindle:

This story begins twenty years in the future and Dr. Eric Winslow, a prominent pediatric neurosurgeon, has performed an illegal surgery to save his nephew’s life.

After he is released from Compound Pro and changes his identity; donning an alter ego as the singer ‘Snake’.  Unable to surrender his desire to help those that are afflicted with deformities he sets up an apartment as a surgery room and again transforms the lives of children.

The fierce arresting officer, Jerome Running Crane, is envious of the doctor’s strong character, and his unrelenting compassion, and remains suspicious of the doctor’s intentions. When Jerome discovers that Dr. Winslow is the singer Snake he is compelled to follow him and catch him performing surgery.

With natural resources and food supply dwindling and the increased population of pedophiles, it has become unsafe and is strongly discouraged by society to become pregnant. The federal government has also placed restrictions and high tax on those having children.

Jerome Running Crane’s sister decides to continue with her unexpected pregnancy. She wants to bring a child into the world to continue the bloodline of their heritage of the Assiniboine Native Tribe.

After Jerome interrupts surgery, and is tempted to arrest Dr. Eric Winslow, the tables turn on the officer and he appeals to the doctor to save his sister who is now in danger of losing her life through complications in her pregnancy.

Just on the brink of fame with his music career, the doctor/singer finds a small boy abandoned in an alley with Proteus Syndrome (i.e. the Elephant Man) and takes him in. He grows to love the frail child as if he were his own, only to encounter critical complications while performing surgery to alleviate his breathing complications.

The doctor is devastated and thrown into despair and refuses to perform with his band until his nemesis, Running Crane, intervenes and revives the doctor’s passion for healing.

From the reviewer:

This book had me hooked from the start and the ending was like BAM!!! If you want a refreshing break from predictable story lines, this is it. Doctor Snake is intriguingly original and oh so satisfying!!!! It had me scrambling to find another book by Kay George. I AM A FAN!!!  –  Bob Canoree

Tess Klein brings her many years of psychological study and experience to her multilayered suspense novel Lucifer’s List – 4.3 stars and now just $2.99 on Kindle

Lucifer’s List

by Tess Klein

4.3 stars – 3 Reviews

Here’s the set-up:

Seasoned detectives Jade Reynolds and Samuel Cobb are embroiled in a case of their careers, when a town becomes host to ruthless evil. Appearances are deceiving, and the more they learn, the less they know, stifling their investigation. As more corpses are discovered, unraveling the killer’s malevolent puzzle becomes a race against time. The duo must join forces with FBI profiler Greg McAlister and a cub reporter, Markus Brenner to unmask a vicious killer who has redefined cold-blooded murder. Can they stop the faceless predator that lurks in the shadows, stalking, taunting, and disarming this once-safe haven its residents’ call home?

From The Author

It’s often said ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. I feel the same regarding the process of preparing a manuscript from conception to (finally) a book! This process is certainly not a solo journey. Many people along the path, with their individual talents, let the author shine.

During the planning of this book, I had many questions and I turned to individuals who graciously gave of their time and expertise. I thank the investigators from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for procedure in revocation of preliminary rulings. The Center for Disease Control provided a wealth of information involving toxic compounds.

This is my first novel and I’m currently working on my second. The basis of my plots and character development comes through my many years in behavioral health. If we had a script foreshadowing our tomorrows based on patterns learned from others, would we read and apply the lessons?

About The Author

Tess Klein has been in the behavioral health field for over a decade with a degree in behavioral sciences. Her quest for research and knowledge has awarded her a lifetime membership of APSI CHI, at the National Honor Society in the field of psychology. From psychological abstracts to applied theories, she’s written her first suspense novel. A native Texan, she resides with her husband, a cat, and a dog in Austin, Texas. She is currently working on her second thriller.
