Here’s the set-up:

Meet Rad Sanders, the most terrifying serial killer you will ever encounter, in a thriller unlike any you have ever read…

Lu Jakes lives with her alcoholic father and abusive stepmother, Noreen, at Hidden Creek Lodge in the Utah mountains. When the beautiful Lisa is sent by her protective parents to stay at the lodge for the summer, Lu makes her first real friend – dangerously unaware that Lisa’s is not the only new face at the resort.

For Lisa has been followed by Rad Sanders, a sadistic killer who has plans for the girls – sick plans that will drag them and their families to the very brink of hell. Rad stalks Lu and Lisa, waiting for his moment, certain that his deadly plan cannot fail.

But unknown to Rad, Lu has a secret. She can see things that nobody else can see: the spirit Talion and his companions. But are these spirits real or a trick of the mind? And will Lu’s special gift help her and Lisa as the killer closes in…TALION is a gripping, intense tale of friendship, family and dark desires, that blends Thomas Harris with Stephen King.  It is a book that will make you want to sleep with all the lights on – if you can sleep at all.

Rated R for adult language and scenes of disturbing violence.

Reviews

“”Silence of the Lambs” meets “The Turn of the Screw” . . . . The story is propelled by suspense, and made delicious by Maddox’s Ray Bradbury-like gift for deft, deep-shadowed description.”  –Charleston Times-Courier

“A gripping and relentless novel about desperate people in a desperate world…The impeccable prose of Mary Maddox makes it impossible to turn away from Rad, the brutal serial killer whose insatiable hunger threatens anyone who crosses his path, and Lu, the young teenage girl who is not what she appears to be, who possesses a power that may deliver unto Rad a reckoning beyond his imagination. This dark, but beautifully rendered novel is one you do not want to miss.” – Roxane Gay, author of Ayiti

“The author is a spellbinder…In Talion, Mary Maddox pits a sadistic killer against two achingly vulnerable potential victims with an effortless narrative control that kept me wide-eyed, as anxious over the outcome as in my early glory days as a reader.” – Sherwood Kiraly, author of Diminished Capacity and Big Babies

About The Author

I began my life in Soldier Summit, Utah, a town of a few dozen people high in the mountains. My father owned a cafe, a gas station, and a combination grocery-bar – literally half the businesses in town. Even a minnow can be a big fish if the pond is small enough. Though I have lived in the Midwest for most of my adult life, I still miss the mountains and dream that someday I’ll live there again.

I graduated from Knox College and the Iowa Writers Workshop at the University of Iowa. At present I teach composition at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where I live with my husband, Joe, and our bird, Westie. Along with writing fiction, I spend my time reading, playing Scrabble at the local club, and riding my horse, Tucker.

Here’s the set-up:

A tale of true love. When two souls meet on a chance encounter, they didn’t know that it would be a day that would change both of their lives for ever.
Set in the modern day in the years leading up to the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee of 2012, this is a very modern love story with a unusual twist.
Across the class divide that separates the extremely wealthy from the common man in modern day England two men meet and form a most unlikely bond.
True love has no barriers and can strike anyone anywhere when they least expect it. Once felt it will stop you in your tracks and all you will be able to think about is the object of your affections.

Edward is a humble young man from south London, born into a poverty stricken and mixed up family with no hope of a good future. With a disappearing single mother addicted to drugs, abused as a child. Adopted at a young age due to a traumatic childhood, trying hard to make a better life for himself anyway he possible can. Dreaming of a future with infinite possibilities where dreams can come true if you wish hard enough.

One day he meets his knight in shining armour, a member of the British aristocracy who comes into his life and turns it around to become the stuff dreams are made of.
A chance encounter leading to a lasting love affair that will change his life for ever.

Set in London amidst the hustle and bustle of Mayfair, St James, Knightsbridge, Belgravia. Edward finds himself whisked up into a world beyond his imagining. The best restaurants and finest hotels in London are a big part of his new life. No more Butlins in Skegness for Edward as he starts to be taken to, New York, Paris, Amsterdam Italy and the South of France. Places he had only seen in magazines now become his holiday destinations. From the glamour of the upper east side in New York, to the sheer luxury of Provence in the South of France, to the beauty of southern Italy in Positano, Ravello and Capri, he starts to live the life he had always dreamed about.

Will events change Edward? Can he remain the humble young man he was when his affair with a member of the British aristocracy starts? Or will he become changed by getting caught up in all the glamour and luxury and lose himself amongst the finer things in life? All is revealed in this love story that crosses the class divide.

A Belle De Jour meets Pretty Woman for the 21st century. Like the love letters between King Edward and Wallis Simpson before they become the Duke and Duchess of Windsor mixed in with Diary Of A Manhattan Call Girl. A tale with a message and underlying morality. Can you really have everything you want without paying a price? Is it really worth it to gain the world if you lose yourself and the morals you have been brought up with? Sometimes laugh out loud funny, other times heart rendering, sad, uplifting, light hearted, fun, at turns even very sobering with a interwoven message of morals and staying true to oneself. Not just a story with out meaning, as you read you will find yourself vividly imagining what you would do and encouraging Edward to be true to his word and himself. When sometimes enough is never enough and the more you have the more you want, life has a way of teaching you the lessons you need to learn.
5-Star Amazon Reviews

“Wow! This is a well crafted romance story between Charles, a rich, successful, powerful and promiscuous upper class British gentleman and Edward who supports himself on the street as a hustler…”

“A love worth fighting for. This story is not your typical love story, it is so much more then that. To love unconditional with courage when the world says same sex couples are not normal blew me away. I found myself tearful as a read the love letters between the two lovers. Very timely , well written and wonderful.”

About The Author

Beau Garcon De La Nuit is a exciting new author from London England. He is a bit of an enigma, as it is a mystery as to what he looks like and who he actually is. Just like when the novel The Cuckoo’s Calling was released by a famous author under the pen name of Robert Galbraith, Charles and Edward is a novel of such a high caliber that the general consensus is that Beau Garcon De La Nuit must be a already established author to have produced such a fine piece of fictional work.
Who is Beau Garcon De La Nuit?! It has added to the excitement surrounding the release of Charles and Edward that no one actually knows who he actually is.
Big things are in store for 2014 with Charles and Edward as the author has been in talks with several American production company’s about the film and tv rights for the novel as it would make a smash hit movie they feel.
So watch this space, Charles and Edward could be coming to a screen near you in the very near future. . . . .

Saga of Wealth

by Cassia Cassitas

4.3 stars – 41 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Saga of Wealth is a historical fiction novel set during the financial crisis of 2008.

The novel tells a story of people who live in the era of finance, fund implementation risk and the quest for money and power. People that, despite real estate bubbles, subprime securities and unemployment, envision and pursue paths of prosperity.

The chapters relate the story that originated the facts to the current developments. While the U.S. real estate bubble burst in 2008, leaving many people homeless and jobless, the first generation of the saga left Europe in search of housing and employment.

The main character is Ricardo, a financial executive torn between his own wealth and the ethical conflict of endangering an entire segment of society in favor of the profitability of his investment agency. Through his thoughts, the reader will learn a little about the rules of the economy and the alternatives governments possess in relation to the distribution of wealth.

Carolina, his wife, is an architect who decides to create her own company when she discovers that she is pregnant. Amidst her relationship with her husband, the international crisis, and the opportunities of the globalized environment, her trajectory reflects the decision making process of the contemporary woman.

The novel addresses several veridical events pertaining to Brazilian history, such as the transformations which occurred at the start of the republican society, the Estado Novo, and the real estate and economic expansion. The characters in this fiction live amid real facts. When the U.S. real estate bubble bursts, the characters react accordingly to their socio-cultural characteristics.

Saga of Wealth is a living book — a story that is not over. It goes on in countries that struggle with instability and unemployment.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“I was captivated instantly by this great book. So often as Americans we don’t see what is global, we see just how things affect us. This book really shows us how the economic crisis has a cause and effect system that ripples through the entire world….”

“This is a powerful story, almost a timely reminder on how to live a happy and rewarding life in our modern world where, on any given day, we have so much battling for our time and attention. Sparing the time to read this cleverly insightful and enjoyable book is a true personal investment and highly recommended.”

ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Finalist

The Fiction Writer’s Handbook is the definitive volume to explain the words and phrases that writers and editors use when they talk about a work. In the highly competitive publishing world, today’s writers need to stay ahead of the competition and make every sentence count. This book will help new writers who need an understanding of the writing process, and seasoned writers will find this an energizing refresher course with new angles.

Reviews

“Knowing how editors choose one work over so many others would give any writer an advantage. To that end, Lowenkopf, a longtime writer, editor, and educator, delivers the fiction-writing guide he has always longed for–one that can be applied to the practical goal of every aspiring writer: getting published… VERDICT An invaluable insider’s take on what editors look for when sifting through the slush pile.” -Henrietta Thornton-Verma, Library Journal

“The effect is also similar to falling down a rabbit hole. To put it plainly, it’s a tool that anyone who loves to learn more about the craft of writing won’t be able to put down, an indispensable addition to any writer’s library.” -Marc Schuster, Small Press Reviews

While the definitions in themselves are informative and quite entertaining, they are also often educational in their examples and serve as great writing advice. Highly recommended reading, especially for writers.” -Maya Fleishmann, Curled Up with a Good Book

From The Author
“I wanted to produce the book I needed when I was setting forth as a writer, a book you could pick up at any page and be led by your own needs and curiosity rather than the logic pattern of a development editor. I wanted a book that made me believe someone had given away the store.”
