Here’s the set-up:

James Robinson, Jr. had it all: three beautiful children, a loving wife, a new home, a good job. But at age 36, the bottom would literally fall out of his life. He would watch his once firm deriere fall overnight never to rise again–succumbing to the evil forces of gravity.

Fighting the Effects of Gravity is a humorous, midlife, memoir full of anecdotes and life lessons. You’ll find yourself laughing out loud at the author’s experiences and how much they relate to your own. Life is short; don’t let gravity get you down.

Reviews

“Fighting the Effects of Gravity” is a well-written book that just cannot be set aside or put down. Its references on how to live life will be found absorbing and practical by readers of all ages, especially those of advancing years. Author James Robinson, Jr. writes with humor and honesty that will leave the reader laughing but also engaged by each word of this well-written text. “Fighting the Effects of Gravity” is an Indie Excellence Award Finalist, an honor that’s definitely deserved.” –Alice Dinizo for Readers Favorite

“In Fighting the Effects of Gravity, James Robinson takes us on a journey through his own experiences with middle-age. From the saggy-bottomed horrors that partner the onset of those middle years, through to the morbid but epiphanic realizations that the final stage of life is just around the corner. It is a very humorous narrative on the physical changes that the human body experiences, as everything — from fading eyesight, creaking joints and sagging muscles — succumbs to the stresses of a life spent upright. James offers a very witty commentary on a number of ailments and experiences, summing up his statements with a witty insight.” –Paul Aitken, Amazon.co.uk

About The Author
James Robinson Jr. is a 1974 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a BA in English literature. He resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with Deborah, his wife of thirty-four years. Robinson has three adult children and four grandchildren.

“Flying by the seat of your pants” (aka) managing life by ‘intuition’ is the norm for most people, every single day, all over the world. Hundreds of millions of people flying blind, hoping and praying not to crash and make it home for dinner once more at the end of the day. So, what’s the alternative to ‘life management’ by intuition?

For millions, the alternative is the mass consumption of a daily diet of ‘motivational quotations’ taken like a dose of aspirin, caffeine or sugar snacks delivering that ‘jolt’ of inspiration, or relief from the emotional pain they’re suffering. For most it never lasts. It’s a temporary fix leaving them unsatisfied and hungrily chewing through inspirational slogans, ‘life coaches’ and ‘self-help gurus’ looking for ‘something’ that will stick. Something solid and authentic they can build on.

Life As a Craft
The alternative to the glut of ‘fix my life quick’ motivational ‘fast-food’ flooding the marketplace, is to make a masterpiece of your life the ‘old fashioned way’; take the time and do the work with skill and quality. After all, no mission is more important and no adventure is more rewarding. To practice the whole of ‘life-as-a-craft’, the way a craftsperson mindfully practices the trade of textile weaving, medicine, or carpentry, requires that the myriad activities of the ‘craft of life’ be systematically organized, managed, taught and learned similar to the ways in which we organize, manage, teach and practice our trades, occupations and professions.

Drawing upon centuries of knowledge and practical experience by master craftsmen and craftswomen, Charles Collins has skillfully organized a complete body of life knowledge into Five Elements, providing the guidance and motivation to practice ‘life-as-a-craft’.

About The Author

Charles P. Collins is the author of Making a Masterpiece of Your Life: The Craftsman’s Way of the Art & Science of Skillful Living.

Collins received his degree in business and political communication from Emerson College, Boston in 1976, and continued his education in intercultural communication at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 1980. He has spent the balance of his career living and working primarily outside the USA, as an international business executive where he has made major contributions in the fields of international commerce and business performance management.

He writes; “One day in the early 1990′s, when my daughter was about 8 years old, I realized the questions she was asking about “where do we come from?” and “why is this the way it is?” were requiring real answers. Answers that made sense. Not the simple ‘fairy tale’ answers I could get away with just a few years earlier. And, at that moment I came face to face with the fact that I didn’t have the kind of quality answers I really wanted to give her. After all, she is my daughter and I wanted to fill her head with the best possible content I could find. And so it began. The result several years later is ‘Making a Masterpiece of Your Life’.”

Five other books currently in development will complement ‘Making a Masterpiece of Your Life’; Book 6 in the LIFECRAFT Collection.

Here’s the set-up:

The International Bestseller first Published in Spain and subsequently Brazil, Poland, Russia and Mexico where it spent 10 weeks on the bestseller list.

THE SUDARIUM TRILOGY
The epic story of a holy relic, an innocent girl, a diabolical experiment that threatens to rip society asunder, and a young man who must find his soul, if he is to save himself. “The Sudarium Trilogy” is a thriller for our times.
THE SURROGATE: BOOK ONE
In a remote corner of the Cathedral of Oviedo in Spain, Father Miguel Alvarez is in charge of taking care of the most holy relic of all Christendom: the sudarium, the towel-sized cloth which covered the face of Christ immediately following his death. At eighty years of age, behind the heavy grated door to the Camara Santa (the Holy Chamber), he prays fervently before the relic. Suddenly, a pair of hands grips his head, forcing him to breathe a moistened cloth that causes him to lose consciousness. Not, however, before he sees a masked figure with a scalpel in his hand leaning over the holy bloodstained sudarium. Seven years later, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Hannah Manning, a 19 year-old waitress, is waiting for a sign – something that will tell her what she is supposed to be doing with her life. One day, she notices an advertisement in the newspaper looking for surrogate mothers. The emptiness in Hannah’s life suddenly subsides; she seems to have found something meaningful to do with herself. Instead of finding fulfillment as a surrogate mother, however, Hannah ends up taking a terrifying journey deep into a land of fanaticism and zealotry.

One Reviewer Notes

“Little by little, Foglia and Richards reveal the strands that make up the conspiracy. For that, they succeed in joining the latest developments in genetic experimentation with the moral and religious implications that arise from such an undertaking. A great deal of what they imagine could already be carried out in our times, while other things could easily be a reality in the near future.

’The Sudarium’ is a story that keeps the reader on the edge of his seat, even when he has turned the final page, because if some questions are answered in the course of the book, others continue to stick in the mind of whoever picks up this disturbing work.” – LA REFORMA (MEXICO)

About The Authors

Leonard Foglia and David Richards have co-authored five novels, The Sudarium Trilogy: The Surrogate, The Son and The Savior, Face Down in the Park and 1 Ragged Ridge Road. Mr. Richards is also the author of Played out: The Jean Seberg Story and Mr. Foglia has directed many distinguished Broadway plays and operas.
