A Handsome Frontiersman, Mysterious Scots-Irish Woman, Shapeshifting Warrior, Dark Secret, Pulsing Romance…The Bearwalker’s Daughter

Karin McNeal hasn’t grasped who she really is or her fierce birthright. A tragic secret from the past haunts the young Scots-Irish woman who longs to learn more of her mother’s death and the mysterious father no one will name. The elusive voices she hears in the wind hint at the dramatic changes soon to unfold in the mist-shrouded Alleghenies in Autumn, 1784.

Jack McCray, the wounded stranger who staggers through the door on the eve of her twentieth birthday and anniversary of her mother’s death, holds the key to unlock the past. Will Karin let this handsome frontiersman lead her to the truth and into his arms, or seek the shelter of her fiercely possessive kinsmen? Is it only her imagination or does someone, or something, wait beyond the brooding ridges–for her?

From The Author

Romance novel The Bearwalker’s Daughter is a blend of carefully researched historical fiction interwoven with an intriguing paranormal thread and set among the clannish Scots in the mist-shrouded Alleghenies. The story is similar to others of mine with a western colonial frontier/Native American theme, and features a powerful warrior or two. My passion for the past and some of the accounts I uncovered while exploring my early American Scots-Irish ancestors and the Shawnee Indians is at the heart of the inspiration behind this book. I was also given assistance in my research by the Shawnee themselves.

The Bearwalker’s Daughter is Book One in my Native American Warrior Series. The series loosely ties together based more on time and place and strong Native American characters than as a traditional series that follows the storyline. However, Kira, Daughter of the Moon is the actual sequel to Through the Fire, and there will be other sequels. In addition to Native Americans, hardy Scots-Irish frontiersmen and women, colonial Englishmen and ladies, and even a few Frenchmen also play an important role in this series. So far, it spans the gamut from the dramatic era of the French and Indian War, through Pontiac’s War, The American Revolution and shortly thereafter. But that time period may broaden as more stories are added to this line.

Reviews

“A fantastic read…well written and descriptive… Melissa McPhail is an extremely talented writer.”   —Reviewed by Charline Ratcliff for RebeccasReads

“This is a richly imagined piece of work…the characters are engaging, and McPhail manages to do some very original things, which is often difficult in fantasy, given that so much work in the genre relies on Tolkienian stereotypes….some strong work here.”  —Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards

“A well thought-out story with many layers…the characters are all interconnected…and the underlying mysteries that tie everything together are well hidden and thoroughly disguised.” —Reviewed by Marty Shaw for Reader Views

“Christy Hayes’ “Mending the Line” was a sweet, romantic love story. The characters were beautiful, each one memorable which stays with you after you have finished the book. There were several substories to the book which made it very interesting. I’m hoping there is a follow up with adventures in North Carolina!”

Here’s the set-up:

The author uses examples from his own writing and hyperlinks to examples in his other e-books, to help a new or experienced writer refresh their writing world. “We get validated as a person when we create, and when we show or let people hear, see or read what we “think” we have created. That is secret #1. And you already know it. Oh, and there is no ranking of #1, #2, #3. All of the secrets of being a creative writer or whatever, overlap. They flow. FLOW along with them.”

About The Author

I’ve been writing for over 25 years, mostly plays, although I have written screenplays. I also do photography and videos. You can find my videos at youtube.com/stephenpeace . And since I am mostly a playwright, people always ask me if I’ve been produced in NY City. And the answer is yes. I’ve also been produced all over the U.S. and in Europe. I write unusual plays. I write a lot of Southern, U.S. plays. I write trilogies and I write modern plays. I also write plays from the 1800’s South and in old Southern dialect.

My plays have bite.

Making my plays available as e-books will mean more people will have a chance to discover my plays. Theaters, even though they might have found my plays interesting, often were afraid to do my them because they have an edge or seem to be risky. Theaters can’t afford to take risks on “new work”, unless the author has a name. MY NAME IS STEPHEN PEACE!

I think reading a play is a different experience for most people. People are used to reading novels, but plays can be just as interesting. In a play there is more emphasis on a look or a lighting change. Plays are also more about dialogue. Some will like reading a play and some won’t. I hope you do.
Now, what is my name?
