Tsura: A World War II Romance
by Heather Anastasiu
Here’s the set-up:
An epic WWII saga, for fans of Outlander and The Bronze Horseman.
Caught between love and duty, a young Roma (gypsy) woman is forced to leave her lover and marry, Mihai, a man she despises in order to save her family. But as the second world war rages and danger closes in, Tsura must make a choice that will decide her fate…
Tsura swallowed hard as she stood with Mihai in front of the altar. The church behind them was full. This wasn’t how she envisioned her wedding. A sacred event, a happy occasion.
With the wrong man.
Mihai spent his whole adult life trying to make up for the sins of his father. He never factored having a wife into it. A partner… Love. But this wasn’t about love. It was about duty.
Wasn’t it?
Book I of II.
5-star Amazon reviews:
“This is a touching, heart-wrenching, romantic novel that I could not put down. I just had to know how this story was going to end. Tsura was easy to get attached to and even though you might not agree with her actions at times, you find yourself becoming her cheerleader. Mihai is mysterious, awkward and in no way your typical knight in shining armor. This author made these characters come to life with realistic dialogue and inner struggles, interactions with strangers (never knowing who might be the enemy) and did an excellent job intermingling fiction with the historical events of Romania during WWII. ”
“Oh how I love a Historical Romance, and oh how I love this story. This story that grabs you right out of your seat, this time zone and plops you in the middle of Europe and WWII. The amount of painstakingly accurate details, subplots, twists, scenery descriptions and sheer amount of development work that went into this story deserves 5 stars on that merit alone. More than that is this beautiful hidden love story you are begging to see unfold. Each of the characters introduced, from Tsura to Mihai, to their neighbors and family—all have their own rich history that help bring this fantastically written novel to life. I highly recommend this book as well as it’s conclusion: House of Stone”
