A Must Read!”

Here’s the set-up:

Aja Rain flees to Italy for peace and quiet after an accident where she nearly castrates her ex-boyfriend. She becomes a media sensation when all she wants to do is move on with her life. Italy is full of hot Italian men, but Aja is afraid to trust her heart again. Pietro and Marco are impossible to resist. How can she choose between them?

What the Reviewers Say
“This is a wonderful book about romance and vendetta at the same time. An easy read. I loved the characters. Brenda has a way of bringing her characters to life.”
–Suzi Reece

“Loved it! It kept me hooked, made me laugh and best of all, I fell in love with the characters. I would recommend it to all types. Well done!”
–Laura Oig

There’s a new voice in woman’s fiction and it belongs to Brenda Sedore. A Snake in Paradise is an engaging read, one I highly recommend. Aja’s world is turned upside down when the slip of a knife sets a vengeful plot in motion. The most appealing aspect in this book is the way Brenda effortlessly draws us into the story. The characters sparkle, pulling us into their world, giving the reader a sense that they are part of the action, whether it’s the strong female friendships, or the fending off of the attentions of the devastatingly appealing male Italian characters. You’ll find yourself cheering Aja on in her brave quest to rebuild her life, despite the repeated attempts of her ex to destroy her. This book has it all. Tears, fears, laugh out loud lines, spine tingling moments and unexpected romance.

Brenda Sedore is a skilled wordsmith, making us feel the emotions of her characters, while spinning an enticing plot, making this book one that is hard to put down. There are a few unexpected twists, guaranteed to please readers. The descriptions are vivid, the characters make you wish you could sit down and enjoy a glass of wine with them. I give this book five stars, it never disappoints, and am eagerly anticipating Ms. Sedore’s next novel.
–Lori Gordan

About the Author

Being born in the wine country of Northern California started Brenda’s lifelong love of the grape. She moved to Canada as a teenager and eventually ended up in wine country again. It’s probably not a great surprise that wine is a large part of her debut novel, A Snake in Paradise.

Brenda has been writing for over a dozen years. Her goal as a writer is to tell great stories, but also to leave her readers with memorable characters; ones they think of as friends. Brenda writes in Kelowna, BC with her husband, Author Daryl Sedore.

"Gone with the Wind Meets Brokeback Mountain?" This terrific, life-affirming Civil War novel is much more than that: David Greene’s Unmentionables – Here’s a Free Sample

I don’t go out on a limb like this for one of our sponsors more than two or three times a year, but I hope you will read David Greene’s novel Unmentionables, because it is a terrific, life-affirming read, unpretentiously priced at just $2.99.

I could care less about the little controversies that some will associate with it, because this book is so much better than you might expect if you focus on them. It should have a place in every reader’s library, and the sooner you make time to read it the sooner you will share the great experience I’ve had the past few days.
I’m not going to pigeon-hole Unmentionables by saying “think Gone with the Wind meets Brokeback Mountain,” because that wouldn’t do justice to the novelist’s achievement in recreating a historical world that seems to suggest the impossibilty that he might actually have been present for everything that happened just outside Margaret Mitchell’s earshot.
One reviewer wrote about recognizing, in David Greene’s prose, a style similar to that of Anthony Trollope or other 19th century novelists. Although that frankly did not strike me, I will say that one important element of Greene’s triumph here is strikingly reminiscent of the great tradition of English novelists from Eliot and Hardy to D.H. Lawrence. Part of what made the English novel of the 19th and early 20th century so compelling was the existence of class and social barriers that locked characters out from opportunities to live their dreams.
American culture has often tended to homogenize our experience and deny the existence of such barriers to focus on less compelling personal idiosyncracies, but the barriers are there, they have always been there, and in Unmentionables Greene gives resonance to those barriers, to their human cost, and to the passion and nobility that such barriers can inspire in “ordinary people.”

I live in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, and much of my fiction is based on mountain legends, local haunted places, and strange events. I was inspired by my grandmother’s storytelling, and have always written as long as I can remember.

My novels include the Kindle bestsellers Disintegration, The Red Church, Speed Dating with the Dead, and The Skull Ring, as well as eight other novels, including the urban fantasy Cursed! with J.R. Rain and the paranormal romance series October Girls. I’ve also created the comics Grave Conditions and DIRT and have written six screenplays, several of which are available on Kindle.

My web site www.hauntedcomputer.com has writing advice, fiction excerpts, art and samples from my comic books, my movie work, and numerous essays.

Crime doesn’t pay…but neither does journalism. DRM-free and 99 cents for a limited time.

“Short stories are a helluva good read…Great Stephen King twist at the end.”
–-Shelley Brewster, Lady Trial Lawyer

Here’s the set-up:

“The Road to Hell” collects four stories by Paul Levine, the Edgar-nominated author of the bestselling Jake Lassiter series. Levine’s heroes travel dark and dangerous paths as they confront devilish and powerful villains. The journeys are by land, by sea, and in one case, perhaps only in the mind.

In “El Valiente en el Infierno,” (The Brave One in Hell), a 13-year-old Mexican boy tells his own story as he makes a treacherous midnight crossing into California in search of his father. The boy’s courage is tested when he runs into two gun-toting American vigilantes, and the confrontation will change all of them forever.

“Development Hell” is a well-known Hollywood term symbolizing the purgatory where projects are stuck in “development,” rather than being made into films. The story imagines a pitch session in which a bedraggled Poe squares off with a slick Hollywood producer who wants to make a cheesy slasher flick out of “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Bookgasm praised the story as “going straight to the funny bone.”

“A Hell of a Crime” echoes with notions of “The Twilight Zone.” A prosecutor prepares for a homicide trial while being pestered by his domineering mother, a famous lawyer herself. Just what role did she play in the murder? And how is the prosecutor’s enigmatic wife involved in the case? It’s a mystery with a punch to the gut at the end.

Two of the author’s best-loved characters, Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord, appear in “Solomon & Lord: To Hell and Back.” The ethically-challenged Steve Solomon and the very proper Victoria Lord are mismatched Miami law partners. Steve says he’s going fishing with Manuel Cruz, a sleazy con man. Victoria knows that Cruz embezzled a bundle from Steve’s favorite client and is an unlikely fishing buddy. So just what is Steve up to now? Something between mischief and murder, Victoria figures. To protect Steve from himself – and Cruz – she hops aboard the boat, and the three of them head for deep water and dark troubles.

What the Reviewers Say
“The “Solomon and Lord” novels have been nominated for the Edgar, Macavity and International Thriller Awards, as well as the James Thurber Humor Prize. “Remarkably fresh and original with characters you can’t help loving and sparkling dialogue that echoes the Hepburn-Tracy screwball comedies. A hilarious, touching and entertaining twist on the legal thriller.”
–-Chicago Sun-Times

An excerpt of “Mortal Sin,” one of the award-winning Jake Lassiter novels, is also included in the collection. This time, the linebacker-turned-lawyer has a dangerous conflict of interest. He’s sleeping with Nicky Florio’s wife…and defending the mob-connected millionaire in court. Florio has hatched a scheme deep in the Florida Everglades that oozes corruption, blood, and money. One false move, and Jake will be gator bait. “Recalling the work of Carl Hiaasen, this thriller races to a smashing climax.”
–-Library Journal

Kidnapped for ransom and left for dead, a child of wealth and privilege begins the journey that will ultimately lead him to greater gifts than he ever imagined in our eBook of the Day, Annette Mackey’s Class Collision: Fall From Grace – Here’s a free sample!

Set during the Great Depression, Class Collision:  Fall From Grace will transport you to a simpler time filled with heartache and unexpected love…

Here’s the set-up for Annette Mackey’s sweet college romance:

What if you didn’t know your boyfriend was worth millions?

Born to wealth and privilege, ten-year-old David, arguably the most spoiled, obnoxious kid alive, finds his greatest enjoyment tormenting the maid. That is… until he is kidnapped for ransom and left for dead.

Thrown into a world he knows nothing about, he spends the next several years in an orphanage where his claims to fame and fortune only fuel years of torment. Finally, he escapes, hoping to make it back home.

Instead, he meets Linda. Having lived among boys for so long, he doesn’t know how to handle his feelings for her. She is both irritating and intoxicating. Not that it matters. With looks like hers, every boy in the county is chasing her, and David, with his scraggly clothes and long hair doesn’t stand a chance. Then, when circumstances push them together, they both find that sometimes, people aren’t always what they seem.

Set during the Great Depression, Class Collision: Fall From Grace will transport you to a simpler time, filled with heartache and unexpected love.

The Reviewers Said:

The book is obviously written to a younger audience, and I am in my 80’s. Nevertheless, I found that it held my attention. I loved the setting in the Depression era. That’s when I grew up so that part of it was endearing to me.  I look forward to the sequel with great anticipation.–Margaret Williams.

I was so OBSESSED with this book and absolutely loved it!!!!!! Ms. Mackey brillantly plotted this book and I was up to the wee hours of the night because I couldn’t put it dow

…..was caught up with the characters of this story within the first few pages. The intensity of the personalities of each character grew with the turn of each page. I found myself reading at a fast pace so I could be involved with the next experience that would surface.

The story line became an emotion. I felt, angry, joy, saddness, despair, excitement, hate, fear, happiness, sympathy, and so many other feelings. The characters become family and I wanted the best for them.

Satisfying teen romance novel with a bit of history!  I absolutely adored this book. The relationships between each character are really strong. Linda and Davids romance was my favorite part of the book,it left me wanting more, to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this exciting new series!

Fates can have fun with us all. “Class Collision” is a unique love story of Linda and David………..a fun read with a bit of fable thrown in.

To call Class Collision and romance novel is the same as calling Jodi Picoult’s work chic-lit. It’s far more than just a good love story…..unforgettable characters who come to life on the page through their complex emotions and growth throughout the book.

Class Collision: Phoenix Rising continues where Fall From Grace leaves off.  Most reviewers said they couldn’t wait for the conclusion, which is now available in the Kindle Store.

From the Author’s web site:

I love to write. Whether it’s music or stories, I’ve never been bored because my brain is always working a mile a minute. There is so little time to get everything done! If only I could write as fast as I think.

I love being a Mom. There are times when you want to pull your hair out, but nothing compares to the absolute unity of a family.

Though I might search the world over, my favorite people will always be the ones with whom I have shared a roof, past or present. Kids are loyal and strong. If only I could learn to be a kid again.

Simple to read; simple to understand; simple to apply. That’s part of what makes for the genius of our eBook of the Day, Tom Evans’ Flavours Of Thought: Recipes for Fresh Thinking. Start reading with this free sample!

Many of us spend so much time “doing” that we scarcely ever stop to think about the patterns — and consequences — of our thinking. Now Tom Evans has written a disarmingly straightforward book that could help you change your world forever.
Here’s the set-up for Tom Evans’ Flavours Of Thought: Recipes for Fresh Thinking:

This is a book about thinking. We never give our thoughts a second thought. This is a shame as how and what we think fundamentally changes what sort of day we have and what sort of world we inhabit.

It describes just 21 of many possible types of thought we can have and cleverly combines them into 21 simple to follow recipes.

This is just a soupcon of what is available to us but it’s a great starter.

This book is purposely short so it can be read and absorbed easily on ereaders and smartphones.

It doesn’t take long to read and it quite possibly might change your world and those around you forever.

A note for readers from author Tom Evans:

Flavours of Thought is a book of transformation.  We go about our days not giving our thoughts a second thought. This is a real shame as our thoughts fundamentally changes the world around us.

In Part 1 Flavours of Thought, our thought processes are divided into groups of three, namely Ethereal Whispers, Unconscious Murmurs and Directives. Each group is then further divided into seven flavours.

By thinking about our each of our thoughts as having one of these 21 flavours, a transformation happens. We start to realise we are not a slave to them anymore and they will yield to our will and direction.

Part II of the book, Recipes for Fresh Thinking, then shows how these 21 flavours can be combined into 21 sample recipes (there are billions of other permutations) to tackle common issues like self-anger all the way through to finding your soul path.

The simplicity of this book belies its power as it is crafted from ancient wisdom but in a modern context.

What people are saying about it:

“This book is intrinsically simple. Simple to read; simple to understand; simple to apply. Its simplicity is what makes it genius.”

“It is the deceptive power in its apparent simplicity which allows Flavours of Thought to be easily accessible to both beginners and time served devotees of personal development work. The book is cleverly engineered and crafted to produce light bulb moments (or understanding) whether it’s being read cover to cover, dipped into randomly or as an aide memoir when required. I do all three, often!”

From the reviews:

A few things resonated for me. The flavor of `reception’ which means being still and listening. In a world full of noise from social media and constant online consumption, we need a reminder to turn off and just be quiet to listen to the world

Flavours of Thought is so easy to read I hardly knew I was reading. I ‘woke up’ from it feeling refreshed, calm and ready to embrace my fulfillment.

This is such an easy thought provoking book to read. You can read the whole thing or just dip in when you want to. This is a perfect gift for anyone – they will thank you for it.
