It’s an exciting day here at Kindle Nation, because after three years of campaigning to get Amazon to allow indie authors to provide free books in the Kindle Store, it feels good to see our efforts and those of other readers and authors pay off with Amazon’s announcement today of “KDP Select” and other related new programs for Kindle Digital Publishing titles and their authors. The bottom line for readers is that, starting tomorrow, the number of free quality books in the Kindle Store is likely to grow dramatically, just in time for the holidays and all the new Kindles that will be opened over the next few weeks. But most of the new free books will be free for just a day or two at a time, so we will be working harder than ever to help make sure that you do not miss the ones you want!

Ken R Pence, PhD is an engineering professor at Vanderbilt University and an active martial artist, a 5th degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. As a kid in Montana, James E. Lalonde learned to love words reading the dictionary. He was a science nerd who placed Third in Applied Physics at the International Science Fair.
James received the William T. Costello Poetry Award while at Gonzaga University, and he is a finalist in the 2011 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest for Poetry. James is a photographer who uses photography as a form of note taking. He is working on two new novels set in Seattle and Italy, which are favorite settings for his photography as well. Holotar: Last Queen of the White Shamans, also was a finalist in the 2010 Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest for Urban Fantasy Sci-Fi and it is his first published novel.
James lives in Seattle and is the father of three daughters and the husband of a 'wondrous woman,' a fellow journalist, who incidentally supports his writing habit.
