Here’s the set-up:

Danny Logan, Toni Blair, and the rest of the Logan PI crew are back in action. They’re investigating the supposed suicide of a famous mathematician – a man who was on the brink of revealing a new set of encryption protocols that could rock the world. But if they’re right – if it was murder, not suicide, then whoever did the killing must be highly skilled and highly motivated – exactly the type of someone who would not appreciate being investigated. And, if that someone had already killed once, they’d have no trouble killing again to prevent Logan from uncovering the truth.

If you enjoy the intrigue of Gone, Baby, Gone, the wit of Janet Evanovich, the wisdom of Travis McGee and the roller coaster action of Magnum P.I., you are going to LOVE No Way to Die!

Here’s the set-up:

A promiscuous, unfaithful wife is found dead in her illicit lover’s bed. The lover had been shot several times with a .22 caliber firearm. The wife had been stabbed multiple times and her throat had been brutally sliced. Circumstantial evidence and the testimony of a neighbor lead the police to arrest the husband, Tommy Beloit. Attorney Jake Madow is retained for the defense. The trial compels surprise and suspense. The ending of this story suggests how elusive the pursuit of justice can become and how truth is rarely all that clear.

Here’s the set-up:

A shipwreck leaves a brutal 17th-century conquistador lost in a savage land.

In the present day, a Florida fishing guide plucks a mysterious package out of the ocean.

The lives of these two men are forever connected when they each discover the same ancient secret hidden in the wilds of “La Florida.”

THE SOUND OF MANY WATERS follows two interwoven journeys separated by nearly four hundred years.

Dominic, a ruthless New World conquistador, is the proud captain of a gold-filled galleon sailing home to Spain. But when a hurricane sinks his ship off the coast of La Florida and the native Timucuans take him captive, Dominic must fight to survive in an unfamiliar world.

In the present day, Zane Fisher—a recovering addict—cannot seem to escape the shadow of his checkered past or the memory of his lost love. When a peculiar client charters his boat for what seems like a routine fishing trip off the coast of Palm Beach, Zane is thrust into a life-and-death struggle that forces him to flee into Florida’s dark underbelly.

Despite the four centuries that divide them, Dominic and Zane each discover the same extraordinary secret—one kept hidden in the wilds of Florida for eons—and their stories converge in an incredible way.

MASTER STRATEGIC STOCK TRADING

Many say few know more about stock trading than Michael Swanson, who ran a top ranked hedge fund for four years and has built up a huge audience of readers on his website WallStreetWindow.com thanks to the accuracy of his market calls and investment acumen, including making over 50% in 2008 in one of the worst years for the stock market ever. His book Strategic Stock Trading demystifies the stock market by explaining what truly makes the stock market and individual stocks move the way they do and shows you how you can take advantage of it.

This book is designed to be a fast read that you can finish in one sitting.

After you buy this book and read it among the things you will learn are:

THE MOST PROFITABLE STOCK PATTERN YOU CAN BUY – The best traders and investors are one trick ponies who develop a method or trading strategy that they use over and over again to profit in the market. Instead of flooding you with hundreds of different technical analysis indicators Swanson cuts to the chase and hands you the most profitable stock pattern that he has used again and again over the years.

HOW TO BUY TOMORROW’S BIG WINNERS TODAY – Imagine what would it be like to be able to find the next Apple or the next world changing stock market sector? Learn how to break the stock market down in investment sub sectors and be able to identify when one of them is positioning itself to begin a new bull market of its own and become the next big thing everyone is talking about a year from now.

UNDERSTAND INVESTMENT CROWD PSYCHOLOGY – Individual investors play in the stock market and tend to buy high and sell low while hedge funds and professional investors are now dominating the exchanges with computer programs and short-term trading. As an individual investor Swanson shares his knowledge of what really moves professional investors to help you understand how to navigate today’s stock market and play like a shark and not swim like a minnow.

PROFIT DURING BEAR MARKETS THROUGH SHORT SELLING – Swanson made money in the 2008 stock market crash by recognizing it was coming ahead of time and then betting against the stock market. After you read this book you will know what type of storm clouds come before big bear markets and how to short sell stocks the right way if you want to try to profit from them.

BUY A STOCK USING THE TWO-FOLD FORMULA – Price patterns and technical analysis are key in stock trading entry and exit points, but fundamental analysis using valuation metrics are key to evaluating he true investment potential in a stock. These simple valuation metrics will enable you to do this at a quick glance.

THIS IS THE BOOK MANY CONSIDER TO BE IDEAL FOR BOTH NEWBIES AND EXPERTS – To quickly tell you why many people consider this to be an important book there are many stock market and stock trading investment books that describe different aspects of technical and fundamental analysis. This one puts them together and shows you have to really use them in a strategic way backed by real life experiences and examples. It also discusses the psychology of investors in the market and how hedge funds and institutional investors now influence the stock market more than ever before and what you must do in this type of market to succeed. It is a practical and refreshingly compact guide.

The One

Here’s the set-up:

A year after losing the only girl he ever loved to her overnight fame, a dream-driven, struggling New York City novelist cannot write or move on with his life. But when he learns the girl he loved is living in Sydney, Australia, he abandons everything and moves there to find her, convinced he can win her back if they see each other again.

Though his search initially leads to dead-ends, depleting what little money he has and leaving him on the brink, the journey invigorates his writing, spawning chapters like he has never composed, ones that allow him to discover the reality of who he is and the universe he is experiencing. However, the story he tells about his life begins to consume him, limiting who he can become and his potential for new happiness in Australia. And thus a war begins as his mind tries to convince his heart to give up looking for the girl he used to know, a pursuit that has only brought him disappointment and pain. But love is the greatest dare, a lure into the abyss, a dream he cannot resist following until the very end.

What emerges is a bold, ominous, cerebral, emotional, and ultimately triumphant story about who we are and why we are, one that blows apart the pervasive illusions that lead us to despair. This highly accessible, innovative and thought-provoking novel lays bare the deadly yet transformative power of the one thing we all want—love.

Here's the set-up:
Charles worked six years to get it “all”: the hot online music start-up of the day, a quasi-functioning relationship with a celebrity artist girlfriend, and the regional status of a minor rock star. But one day was all it took for him to find himself with nothing. Forced to confront life’s big questions for the first time in years, he presses the reset button to find out what appears onscreen. At the dawn of year seven, with the worlds outside and inside him unraveling rapidly, he must decide what, if anything, is worth living for. Spanning three continents and set in today’s post-apocalyptic music industry, The Sabbatical is a journey through the heart of a modern world as cynical in belief as it is restless in action.
One Reviewer Notes:
A clever, edgy, fast-paced take on man's timeless quest for meaning and authenticity within a society that celebrates the superficial over creative and spiritual fulfillment. Pinto's rapid-fire writing style and mercurial social analysis make for a very unique, thought-provoking perspective. He nailed it.

Here’s the set-up:

The spirited story of Mary Evans, an extraordinary woman from colonial Charles Town who finds a place for herself in St. Augustine after Spain relinquishes Florida.

In this captivating tale, Eugenia Price paints a vivid picture of the tumultuous historic and political events that shaped the life of Mary Evans, a remarkably independent woman in the colonial south. Born in Charles Town, South Carolina, Mary, a skilled midwife,
accompanied her first husband, British soldier David Fenwick, when his regiment fought the Spanish in Cuba. When Spain agreed to give all of Florida in exchange for the city of Havana, Mary (who became known as Maria) and her husband were forced to relocate to the newly British garrison town of St. Augustine, Florida. Maria exposes challenges that would unnerve a less resourceful woman, but she made a name for herself—developing and enhancing her position with influential citizens of St. Augustine. Eventually marrying three times, Maria proved herself to be an extraordinary woman, for any day or time.

Eugenia Price (1916–1996) was a New York Times bestselling author of 39 books, with over 40 million copies sold. She is best known for her historical romantic antebellum novels.

Discover why Today’s eBook of the Day The Salt God’s Daughter
has already become a favorite with contemporary women authors like Joyce Maynard, Caroline Leavitt and Beth Kephart

Follow three generations of women from the 70s to the current day in a story about what it means to be an outsider in this day and age—a woman who is “different” and who must transcend the limits of society.

Ilie Ruby’s book put me in a Housekeeping state of mind, as did her wonderful Ruthie, whose story this primarily is…. It’s luxuriant writing, thoughtful, pleasingly moody, rustled through with wind. Yet, no matter how surreal the story becomes, it offers real places, every day truth.”

Here’s the set-up:

Set in Southern California against a magical landscape, exotic folklore, and a world teeming with the spirits of sea lions comes a feminist folktale of mythic proportions about sisters Ruthie and Dolly, who survive in a virtually motherless world as they search for a home and for true love. Caught in the riptide of a culture that both glorifies and demonizes female sexuality, the girls refuse to accept the labels and the limits that are placed on them. Ruthie finds herself in the arms of a man who walks out of the sea, who is somehow different from other men. When she has a daughter who is born with a secret, she discovers just how far she’ll go to protect herself and those she loves. Imbued with a traditional Scottish folktale and hints of Jewish mysticism, The Salt God’s Daughter illuminates the tremulous bonds of maternal love, the lovely and often harsh realities of girlhood, and the mixed blessings of identity–a stunning, raw evolutionary tale.

  • “When a blue moon rises, mistakes can be undone, lost children can find their homes, and sea lions can shed their skins. The selkie myth lies at the heart of Ruby’s (The Language of Trees, 2010) second novel…. This is a bewitching tale of lives entangled in lushly layered fables of the moon and sea.”–Kirkus Reviews
  • “Certainly other readers have had this experience: you discover a book that is thrilling in its truth about the world, a book that captures your imagination so completely that you actually feel scared by the thought you might have never held this book in your hands… The Salt God’s Daughter is that kind of book.”-S. Berlain, The Rumpus
  • “…a lyrical, luxuriantly mystical meditation on being female. The Salt God’s Daughter is astonishing and unusual because selkies–mythical shape-shifting creatures who are human beings on land and seals in the water–are part of the story. In the otherworldly universe Ruby creates, the existence of selkies do not detract from the authenticity of the characters. Quite the opposite: the myth sharpens the characters’ humanity… Ruby’s novel comes as close as possible to achieving a deep understanding of the possibilities of being female.” —Leora Tanebaum, The Huffington Post
  • “Ruby’s second novel (after The Language of Trees) imbues the complex relationships between mothers and daughters with legends and feminist mysticism . . . Ruby’s writing is elegant and insightful…” —Publishers Weekly
  • “The book beautifully evokes scenes of two girls adrift in the late 70s and early 80s bohemian beach culture…the result is a breathtaking, fiercely feminine take on American magical realism. Ruby spins sweeping mythologies without straying far from the story of a young woman just trying to survive.” —Interview Magazine
  • “Lushly woven with elements of folklore, Ruby’s novel is a captivating inquiry into the generational, wayward bonds of mothers and daughters.”—Booklist
  • “This is a bewitching tale of lives entangled in lushly layered fables of the moon and sea.” —Kirkus Reviews
  • “Certainly other readers have had this experience: you discover a book that is thrilling in its truth about the world, a book that captures your imagination so completely that you actually feel scared by the thought you might have never held this book in your hands; that you might have missed it completely. Ilie Ruby’s The Salt God’s Daughter is that kind of book.” —Stacy Bierlein, The Rumpus
  • “Three generations of indelibly original women wrestle with the confines of their lives against a shimmering backdrop of magic, folklore, and deep-buried secrets. About the bonds of sisters, mothers, and daughters, and the refusal to accept limits, this is a story as heartbreaking, gritty, magical, and real as a waking dream, with a sense of place so immediate, you can feel the ocean’s salt spray. To say I loved this book is an understatement.” —Caroline Leavitt, New York Times bestselling author of Pictures of You
  • “Open The Salt God’s Daughter and it is as if you are walking through a door, where things are at once utterly recognizable and utterly mysterious, like life, and like an ancient fairy tale, or a myth from a lost continent, another time and place. Ilie Ruby offers up a story that is both exquisitely fantastical at the same time that it maintains the feel of unblinking realism. This one’s a story in which to lose one’s self in the best possible way.” —Joyce Maynard
  • “Magical and gripping, The Salt God’s Daughter captivated me from the very first sentence and has stayed with me long after I finished reading. A lyrical exploration of the timeless search for belonging and the complicated bonds between mothers, daughters and sisters, I devoured the novel in one sitting and then immediately ordered copies for my own mother and sister.” —Jillian Cantor, author of The Transformation of Things
  • “Propulsive, mythic, and rhythmically mastered….a singular, knock-out work of fiction about love and the evolution of identity.” —James Ragan
  • “What a rare pleasure this novel is, a kind of embarrassment of riches, Ilie Ruby has given us a work glowing with the emotive illuminations of two sisters, caught in exile, in homelessness, in a parentless subculture which they both survive by the pure transcendent powers of their personal fantasy-life and myth. The bond of sisterhood prevails. I cannot recommend this passionate look at family and society and outcast-ness enough. To be a part of their journey is to look at our own travels through deprivation, rejection, poverty and find their quiet ultimate triumph, to feel their fulfillment, as if it were our own. I look forward to what this talented writer offers us next!” —Leora Skolkin-Smith author of Hysteria
  • “Ruby’s book is an eloquent unfolding of language brilliantly crafted. The Salt God’s Daughter is beautiful writing of life, love, relationships between mother and daughter, families of one’s own making, and the push/pull of the moon on the course of relationships. Lovely!”-Katherine Pinard, McIntyre’s Books

From the Author

The stories of the women who populate THE SALT GOD’S DAUGHTER were inspired by the confluence of real life and Celtic myth, which I learned from a folksong my mother liked to play on the guitar, The Great Silkie of Sule Skerry. While the myth is the map, its many roads reflect the experiences of my grandmothers, of my mother, of my friends, and of four young girls I never knew but whose histories found me and begged to be written down and shared. My wish was to illuminate the female experience through generations–not only those times that are shrouded in shadows, but also those that are lovely and beautiful, and made indelible with light.
At its heart this is a story about true love, sometimes found between mothers and daughters, in the secrets of sisters, and in the arms of the first person with whom you ever shared your heart. When all is said and done, this novel belongs to resolute sisters Ruthie and Dolly. Their journey of discovery and survival is at the center of this story.
The Salt God’s Daughter, a story woven with Celtic myth and Jewish mysticism, follows three generations of women from the 70s to the current day. It is a story about what it means to be an outsider in this day and age—a woman who is “different” and who must transcend the limits of society. Mostly, it is a story about the bonds between mothers and daughters who must transcend rites of passage with strength and self-acceptance, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The story has been lauded by reviewers, including Kirkus Reviews, and authors like Caroline Leavitt, Joyce Maynard, Beth Kephart, and many more. One night last year, I sat in my office doing research on cyberbullying and I came across the stories of 17 young girls who had been bullied at school and whose lives had tragic outcomes. At first I found four girls, then 6, then ten, then 17. Seventeen girls who lost their lives because of bullying. As I sat there, I felt a strong sense of purpose, and I knew I had to write this book, one that would tell their story and that of all women who are shamed for their sexuality, in one way or another. I wrote the 17 names out on a piece of paper on my desk and I knew this would be the next book I would write. There was no doubt in my mind. And so, I started the book that night, and didn’t stop writing until it was done. The first words capture the energy of this story: “We ran wild at night, effortless, boundless under a blood-red sky.” As a fiction writer and a mother to three, this book is my way of creating change in the world. I wrote it for those 17 girls, for my two beautiful daughters, and for all of you. If you love a magical story, you will be transported, and if you are in need of healing I hope you find healing in this book—it is here, everything I know about how the body and soul recovers to find love and inspiration. This book is proof that second chances and miracles exist, and the best gift I can share with you, today and every day.

Saint Nick

by Fred Tribuzzo

Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Paul’s trendy spiritual ambitions have guttered, leaving him a burned-out, middle-aged bankruptcy lawyer. Now it’s almost Christmas, and the spirit world has decided to take Paul firmly in hand. Three iconic Native Americans of the nineteenth century, Black Elk, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, challenge Paul to a dream quest: no guarantee of safe return. It’s going to be a rough ride.

Fred Tribuzzo is a professional pilot who has flown aircraft from the J-3 Cub to the fastest corporate jet ever made-the Citation Ten. Currently flying a Boeing 737 Business Jet, his trips can range from thirty minutes to ten hours. It was on the far side of the world that he wrote Saint Nick.

4.0 out of 5 stars
September 26, 2009
Format:Paperback
In a blending of Native American spirituality with traditional Christian faith, Fred Tribuzzo’s slim volume relates the story of Paul, a middle-aged cynic about to see the bill on his self-centered life come due. A few days before Christmas finds Paul sitting home alone, playing video games before bed. Awaiting him is Christmas dinner with his mother and a reunion with his estranged son, home on leave from Iraq.

Picking up a dog-eared copy of “Black Elk Speaks” from his bedside table sets off a chain of events that awakens memories of his childhood and propels Paul into an alternative world where his heroes — Black Elk, Sitting Bull, and Crazy Horse — become flesh and blood characters. Each, in turn, challenges Paul’s cynical views, forcing him to see his life for what it is. But will Paul see the light, admit his faults, and find the courage to reverse a lifetime of cynicism and selfishness?

Trubuzzo’s writing style crisply moves the story forward, creates an eerie atmosphere in his dreamworld scenes, and provides a nostalgic view of Midwestern snowfall, last-minute holiday shopping and Christmas dinner with family.

A good read in any season, this seventy-three-page novella, with its Christmas message of redemption, promises to provide solace amid the harried holidays as well as an inspirational stocking stuffer for the book lovers on anyone’s gift list.

5.0 out of 5 stars February 7, 2011
Format:Paperback
I will not mirror other reviews in this space by repeating a narrative analysis, suffice to say that “Saint Nick” is a simple tale, simply and effectively told. Author Fred Tribuzzo wraps it up neatly without fanfare or excessive rhetoric. This tale does not need either. A terrific short read with a lot to say. Perfect for the holiday season, or, indeed, any time one desires a rich and satisfying literary experience. Good things do indeed come in small packages. I am awaiting Mr. Tribuzzo’s next literary effort with great anticipation.

Here’s the set-up:

Late at night, on an amateur ghost hunt, Sabrina and her best friend Q are caught trespassing by the gorgeous, blond Jude. The embers of attraction between them sizzle when they discover Jude’s kinks match their own. Jude is a Dom on his last summer of freedom before starting the prison sentence that is med school. Q is a badass bi switch who knows what she wants, and for years it’s been her cute, doe-eyed straight friend Sabrina. But the only way to get into Sabrina’s heart and panties may be with Jude’s fist wrapped in her hair.

Domming the bratty Q and mischievous Sabrina isn’t going to be easy, but Jude relishes the challenge. At the end of the summer, will they find a way to stay together when everything is tearing them apart?

Warning: this book contains adult material including the use of multiple implements to bring bratty subs to their knees, scaffolding doubling as bondage apparatus, and a haunted house. No ghosts were harmed in the making of this book.

Reviews

“Questionable choices, self-destructive behavior, beautiful friendship, off the charts sex and, finally, love… The collaboration of authors Cari Silverwood, Leia Shaw, and Sorcha Black is a three-some made in literary heaven.” ~ Angeline de Luca, Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

“I haven’t found a book with F/f scenes that rang as true to me as this one did in awhile. I was rapt. I could not believe there were three authors here…  a HOT story, and made me remember why I love M/f/f. Adding in the BDSM threw the tale into scorching. Highly recommend.” ~ Mrs Missive, Goodreads

About the authors

Authors Hal and Evangelyn Spohn
The authors met in 1945 after World War II at the small Nebraska State teachers college in Kearney, Nebraska, where Hal’s parents lived. Hal was returning from the Naval Air Corp. and Evangelyn Kalstrom, known as Vange or Vangie, was a junior at the college. She was a beauty queen candidate that year. Hal wanted to play football for a year, and the team was good enough to be offered a minor bowl bid. It was easy for them to fall in love, as often announced by Binger, the owner of the campus eatery. As they entered he would always shout in front of everyone, “Hello again you two, when are you going to get married.” They were separated next year when Hal moved to Colorado University at Boulder for an engineering degree, but they continued a long distance romance.
After Vange graduated, they married in Vangie’s home town, and lived for a short time in Boulder, Colorado, where Hal finished his engineering degree.
Years later, Vange decided to share some of their life experiences, and created a beautiful plot and story line, with some of their life woven into the tapestry of a novel. Together they developed this family-oriented story, and were rescued from mediocrity by their editor Charity Heller.
