Having worked in an office for many years, I also loved the office humor in the story. I've worked with people like that, too! This would be a great light summer read and I highly recommend it.

Here's the set-up:
Dating is making Andrea Whitman miserable, and she’s not just tired of it, she’s jaded.

She wonders if an attractive, successful woman with a strong sense of right and wrong can find love in a fast-paced, inked-up, follow-the-path-of-least-resistance kind of world. Andrea admits she's choosey, and she can be opinionated. But after years of dating, she would settle for kindness, consideration, and some chemistry. In her pursuit of those traits, she has been insulted, demeaned, and more than a little hurt. She is ready to give up on finding a relationship to concentrate on more attainable goals like success in her high-tech career, and being a good friend and sister. But those friends, and her family, will not allow her to throw in the towel.

Andrea isn’t lacking dates. Her cup is overflowing, and there’s one man who has potential. The chemistry between them is undeniable. But when Andrea lets the disappointments of her past affect the relationships of her present, she risks losing one of the good guys when he finally does come along.
One Reviewer Notes:
I love that I was able to completely relate to Andrea. As someone who has been through a lot of the dating disasters and awkwardness it was refreshing to read a story where I could see myself in a character. I love that as a reader, we were able to experience the inner struggles regarding relationships that Andrea had to deal with. There were times where I wanted to shake Andrea and tell her to stop interfering with her own happiness! I think she heard me, because by the time it came down to end, she stopped over thinking and just LIVED. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a refreshing story about life, love, romance, and waiting for what you deserve.

40 Rave Reviews For Today’s KND eBook of The Day: Award Winning Author E. Van Lowe’s Popular Fantasy/Horror Novel Boyfriend From Hell (Falling Angels Saga)

4.1 stars –52 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

Fifteen year-old Megan Barnett and her single mom, Suze, have a special relationship—they are friends, close friends, who do almost everything together.

“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes? Of course not…”

The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again. She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.

Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando. Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships. But neither of the handsome pair is quite what he seems. In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride. Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him. If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL.

“Boyfriend From Hell” is the first book in the Falling Angels Saga from the author of the gruesomely hilarious, “Never Slow Dance With A Zombie.”

Reviews
“E. Van Lowe puts a fantastic new spin on the young adult paranormal romance, and I for one fell for it hook, line, and sinker.” -Shari Bergquist, My Neurotic Book Affair

“A thrilling suspense/mystery/fantasy book mixed with reality and some romance scenes that will get you hooked up till the end.” -Lalaine Faye, Lalaine’s Fiction Book Reviews

Boyfriend From Hell was a great surprise. I didn’t know what to expect before reading it but it was a fast and fun read that made me laugh more than once. What made Boyfriend from Hell unique to me was the sometimes tongue-in-cheek tone it had. It’s a great YA that’s also poking fun at some of the predictable Young Adult clichés. If you like paranormal YA but sometimes find yourself rolling your eyes at the way the characters are acting, you’ll love this book too.” -Lisa Choboter, Cold Moon Violet Books

“E. Van Lowe’s fluid and masterful writing made this book one that I needed to finish.” -Elizabeth Talbott, Fishmuffins of Doom

“I always enjoy a fun paranormal YA read, and Boyfriend From Hell by E. Van Lowe certainly came through on both the fun and the paranormal.” -Nicole Etolen, Pretty Opinionated

Hi there! I’m E. Van Lowe, an author, television writer, screen-writer, playwright and producer who has worked on such shows as “The Cosby Show,” “Even Stevens,” and “Homeboys In Outer Space.” I have been nominated for an Emmy and an Academy Award. My first YA novel, “Never Slow Dance With A Zombie,” is a zombie horror novel with a comedic twist. It was a selection of The Scholastic Book Club, and a nominee for an ALA Award.

My YA paranormal novel “Boyfriend From Hell,” the first book in the Falling Angels Saga, came out September 2011 and has received mostly 4 and 5 star reviews. “Earth Angel,” the second in the saga, came out in December 2011 with equally good reviews. The third book, Heaven Sent, came out December 2012 and is continuing the trend of rave reviews.

The first book in my Hollyweird series, “The Zombie Always Knocks Twice” is now available as well. It’s another humorous zombie story, this time taking place in the world of Hollywood California. Another zombie story??? Yep. I’ve got zombies on the brain.

I write just about every day. I write all over the house, but my favorite spot is the dining room. It puts me closer to the food. In fact, I’m in the dining room right now (*munch, munch*). As he digs further, he learns the conspiracy reaches more deeply than he could have imagined. Finally, he will have to face the question, What is a father willing to do to save his child? The answer? Anything. Anything at all.

Review

“Gunhus deliver a taut supernatural thriller…the powerful Nate Huckley terrifies, and the assorted cast of human antagonists add to the white-knuckle tension. All the chops of an action-packed horror tale.” – Kirkus Reviews

From The Author

Night Chill is a supernatural thriller in the tradition of Stephen King and Dean Koontz and is intended for mature audiences. For fans of my novel Jack Templar Monster Hunter and the books of The Templar Chronicle MG/YA series, this is a complete departure from that world. First, this novel is written for adults and contains all the language adults tend to use. Second, there are strong horror elements. That doesn’t mean it’s overly gory or disgusting (not my kind of book), but I’ve had emails from readers that there are scenes that kept them up at night. Which leads me to…#3 Night Chill is scary. Not in the way a creature feature or a slasher movie is scary though.  Think instead of being home alone, the doors locked for the night, the kids asleep and, just as you close your eyes, you hear the creak of a floorboard downstairs. Followed by another. And another. Too regular and heavy for it to be anything other than someone or something that shouldn’t be there. If you can imagine that feeling of adrenaline-soaked fear and dread, then you will know what you can expect from Night Chill.

If you are a young fan of the Jack Templar books, this novel is not for you. If you are that young fan’s parent, come try out a few chapters and see if you can handle it. Let me know what you think in the reviews here and at JeffGunhus.com. Thank you.

Legacy Kore is an average seventeen year old with your basic insane crush on the hottest guy in school... rather Adin Shepard was the hottest guy in school before he graduated a couple of weeks ago. Now it's summer vacation and she's not sure when she'll get to see him again. Until he shows up at her surprise seventeenth birthday party. Cue saliva glands--it's time to drool.

But her giddiness is cut short when her guardian delivers an emotional blow, telling Legacy her mother hadn't died when she was baby, but that she'd left for Legacy's protection all those years ago. After the initial shock, she expects some story about how her mother was in the Witness Protection Program or something else just as crazy, but when she's told that her mother is a Greek Goddess and that Legacy is changing into one too, she thinks her guardian needs a trip to a mental hospital. Legacy a goddess? Um, yeah. Right. And her BFF is the Easter Bunny.

While trying to make sense out of something that was impossible to believe, Adin asks Legacy out on a date. She is thrilled that her fantasy might become a reality, but when she meets the new guy in town, River, she discovers everything isn't always as it seems, and the legacy she wants just might not be the legacy she is destined to have.
One Reviewer Notes:
The story is imaginative and youthful in it's perspective of first love. I guess I am a complete romantic because all I can do is cheer for the main characters to hold on to the relationship that seems doomed by fate from the beginning, yet somehow blessed by the gods. Occasionally the narrative is slow or only seems that way because you want to see things progress more quickly. The author keeps to a measured pace and introduces enough twists to keep interest keen. The story telling is appropriate for young and old alike, certainly molding to the imagination level of the individual reader. I think younger readers can relate to the experiences currently relevant in their lives and older readers can relive the exciting moments of the past that was, or maybe could have been.

Here’s the set-up:

A Tragic Warrior Lost in Two Worlds…

The war in Iraq ended for Lieutenant Freddie Williams when an IED explosion left his mind and body shattered. Once he was a skilled gamer and expert in virtual warfare.  Now he’s a broken warrior, emerging from a medically induced coma to discover he’s inhabiting two separate realities.  The first is his waking world of pain, family trials, and remorse–and slow rehabilitation through the tender care of Becky, his physical therapist. The second is a dark fantasy realm of quests, demons, and magic that Freddie enters when he sleeps.
In his dreams he is Frederick, Prince of Stormwind, who must make sense of his horrific visions in order to save his embattled kingdom from the monstrous Horde.  His only solace awaits him in the royal gardens, where the gentle words of the beautiful gardener, Rebecca, calm the storms in his soul. While in the conscious world, the severely wounded vet faces a strangely similar and equally perilous mission–a journey along a dark road haunted by demons of guilt and memory–and letting patient, loving Becky into his damaged and shuttered heart may be his only way back from Hell.

About The Author

The urge to write first struck when working on a newsletter at a youth encampment in the woods of northern Maine. It may have been the night when lightning flashed at sunset followed by northern lights rippling after dark. Or maybe it was the newsletter’s editor, a girl with eyes the color of the ocean. But he was inspired to write about the blurry line between reality and the fantastic .

Using two fingers and lots of white-out, he religiously typed five pages a day throughout college and well into his twenties. Then life intervened. He paused to raise two sons and pursue a career, in the process becoming a well-known entrepreneur in the software industry, founding several successful companies. When he found time again to daydream, the urge to write returned.
There Comes a Prophet is his first novel in this new stage of life.
David and his wife split their time between Cape Cod, Florida and anywhere else that catches their fancy. He no longer limits himself to five pages a day and is thankful every keystroke for the invention of the word processor.

More About The Author

Ed Baldwin has lived in every southern state except Mississippi, and he spent the night in jail there once. That was the origin of his first novel, “Bookman,” which is about a door to door salesman traveling the Mid-South during the turbulent 1960’s.

Ed was a small town family doctor and Air Force Reservist until he was recalled to active duty for the first Persian Gulf War in 1991. Already a published author, he spent the next 19 years seeking assignments and experiences he could use to write adventure fiction.

Ed’s critically acclaimed second novel, “The Other Pilot” was published by Brasfield Books in 2012. It’s a political action thriller with a military aviation background. Ed considers himself a Southern writer, and his genre Southern Adventure Fiction.

“The Devil on Chardonnay” is Ed’s third book and it is scheduled for release in late Spring 2013. Capt. Boyd Chailland, now a series character, returns to battle the forces of evil as a sinister new sickness erupts from the Congo basin.

Ed and wife Becky are planning a trip to Central Asia to gather material for the third novel in the Boyd Chailland series, “The Mingrelian.” Armenia and the Republic of Georgia are the exotic locations for this scariest of all the Chailland stories. Watch for it in early 2014.
