Reviews:

“In Breaking the Story, we once again meet Scottie Darden, who we first met in Merry, Mary. Scottie has a life changing event happen in the first chapter (which actually was a long time coming), and is determined to set a new course for her life and career. Ashley Farley has written a compelling novel that takes us on the ride with Scottie, and it is filled with love, intrigue and suspense. She does a wonderful job weaving the story line, while letting us inside Scottie’s head as she deals with her complex emotions surrounding relationships, fertility, and being a photojournalist hoping for that big break. This is an enjoyable read that keeps you in suspense on many levels. I highly recommend it! ” – Amazon Reviewer

” This book couldn’t be more timely with the setting of the Presidential conventions as the backdrop. I could only wish that Farley’s plot was the only political intrigue that our country was facing. Breaking the Story keeps up the pace with surprising plot twists that are realistic and suspenseful. Throw in a little romance between two likable characters, and this story will appeal to many. Reminds me of a David Baldacci thriller but with a woman’s touch. You won’t want to put this page-turner down. ” – Amazon Reviewer

Here’s the set-up:

For fans of Dorothea Benton Frank, Her Sister’s Shoes is a contemporary women’s novel that explores and proves the healing power of family.

Set in the South Carolina Lowcountry and packed with Southern charm and memorable characters, Her Sister’s Shoes is the story of three sisters—Samantha, Jackie, and Faith—who struggle to balance the demands of career and family while remaining true to themselves.

Samantha Sweeney has always been the glue that holds her family together, their go-to girl for love and support. When an ATV accident leaves her teenage son in a wheelchair, she loses her carefully constructed self-control.

In the after-gloom of her dreaded fiftieth birthday and the discovery of her husband’s infidelity, Jackie realizes she must reconnect with her former self to find the happiness she needs to move forward.

Faith lacks the courage to stand up to her abusive husband. She turns to her sisters for help, placing all their lives at risk.

In the midst of their individual challenges, the Sweeney sisters must cope with their mother’s mental decline. Is Lovie in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, or is her odd behavior normal for a woman her age? No one, including Lovie, understands her obsession with a rusty key she wears around her neck.

Reviews:

This book was the surprise of my summer reading. A very well written book with enough excitement to keep you interested. Every chapter is primarily about one of the characters. The story line was family oriented with all the flaws that come with large families. I really enjoyed this book and I usually read suspense with lots of courtroom action. Will read another of hers for sure!?

This is THE beach read of the Summer! It has everything you want-romance, mystery, family dysfunction, sibling rivalry, business rivalry, faith and even some good old fashioned drama! It’s the book that when you put it down, you’ll wish it went on for another 20 chapters, so you could see how everything actually worked out with the different family members! The book is a good reminder of why blood is always thicker than water, and how no matter what their internal issues, siblings can always count on one another. You’ll finish the book with a smile on your face and happiness in your heart and i can’t recommend it enough!
