Here’s the set-up:

Why would spry senior Bob Weiderley suddenly fall into a coma after winning a game of Bingo? After all, he was the most physically fit of all the men at the Happy Haven Assisted Living Facility—able to bend over to tie his own shoes and use the stairs rather than the elevator. It was just very suspicious. That’s why Essie Cobb and her friends and fellow residents–Opal, Marjorie, and Fay–decided to investigate.

Was it possible that someone was out to get the friendly old gentleman? Maybe it was Violet, Happy Haven’s manager, trying to cover up her shady past. Or Sue, the activities director, whose behavior was strange to say the least. Maybe it was one of the three women who sat at Bob’s regular table in the dining room. Or the mysterious man who had recently sent Bob a startling letter. Essie Cobb is determined to find out—and she’s not going to let her age (90), her weak bladder, or her various infirmities hold her back.

Welcome to Happy Haven. If you thought most elderly residents of assisted living facilities spent their days sitting in the sun watching television, you haven’t met senior sleuth Essie Cobb and her three detecting buddies. These four elderly ladies have curiosity and drive unusual for women in their 80’s and 90’s. They may not be able to get around as fast as youngsters in their 60’s, or navigate the Interstate or Interweb (or whatever that computer thing is called), but they can solve a mystery. And they’re starting with this one.

This book was awesome! As an activity director in a long term care facility, I originally read this book a few weeks prior to reading this with my residents. The residents enjoyed this book so much. I have even one calling herself Essie, as she is the leader of her pack. The residents laughed throughout this book and we made sure to purchase the second which we started working on this friday. There are so many residents wanting to listen to this book, it started out as a group of four and by the middle we had twenty five residents and staff listening to this humorously tale of resident at Happy Haven. This book deserves 6 out of 5 stars.” – Amazon Review

Here’s the set-up:

Finalist in Chanticleer Book Review’s “Mystery and Mayhem” Awards competition.

A night out with her husband to watch her best friend perform in a local community theater “in-the-round” production surely shouldn’t be cause for amateur sleuth Pamela Barnes to use any of her acoustic detecting skills. But when one of the actresses collapses on stage and dies, Pamela finds herself in the thick of things. The recorder in her purse making an audio copy of the performance for another friend who couldn’t attend, may now prove important when it’s determined that the victim was poisoned. Do the sounds on the recording hold any clues to the identity of the murderer? It looks like Pamela is on the sound trail again, and she––and her pals in the Pyschology Department at Grace University––will not stop until they find the person who committed this murder in the round.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“I’ve read all of the acoustic mysteries by Patricia Rockwell and I’m just fascinated with the work of her main character, Pamela Barnes. Murder in the Round is a great book and recommend it to everyone that likes something out of the ordinary and a good clean read. Can’t wait for the next one!”

“This is a great story in so many ways. Plot is totally believable. The story grabbed me right from the beginning. Characters are true to life and you can relate with them well. Pamela Barnes and her husband Rocky are such a great pair… and he cooks! The style of writing reminds me of Poirot or Jessica Fletcher in that this is a good, clean, mystery.”

About The Author

Patricia Rockwell is the author of the Pamela Barnes acoustic mystery series. This amateur sleuth solves crimes using her knowledge of sound. Dr. Rockwell has spent most of her life teaching. One Reviewer Notes:
In this series, Pamela again uses her keen sense of audition to help identify the murderer. The murder takes place in plain sight - the victim poisoned while performing theatre in the round. Interesting setting and characters with unresolved issues from high school and differing personalities lending themselves to the story line. Characters have clear personalities and are believable. Enjoyed reading this.

Here’s the set-up:
1632 In the year 1632 in northern Germany a reasonable person might conclude that things couldn’t get much worse. There was no food. Disease was rampant. For over a decade religious war had ravaged the land and the people. Catholic and Protestant armies marched and countermarched across the northern plains, laying waste the cities and slaughtering everywhere. In many rural areas population plummeted toward zero. Only the aristocrats remained relatively unscathed; for the peasants, death was a mercy.

Kindle Nation Daily Bargain Book Alert: Patricia Rockwell’s BINGOED is Our eBook of the Day at just $2.99, With 4.8 Stars on 4 Reviews, and Here’s a Free Sample!

Here’s the set-up for Patricia Rockwell’s Bingoed, just $2.99 on Kindle:

They may not be able to get around as fast as youngsters in their 60s, or navigate the Interstate or Interweb (or whatever that computer thing is called), but they can solve a mystery. And they’re starting with this one.

From the reviewers:

Bingoed is a humorous book filled with both mystery and laughter – not to mention a number of endearing characters that will warm your heart. It’s a fast-paced, quick read that will surely lighten your mood. This is the first, and hopefully not the last, in the Essie Cobb Senior Sleuth Mystery series.  –  Yvonne Reviews “Mystery Lover”  –  Kaelebs Momma

Jessica fletcher and Miss Marple watch out for Essie Cobb.  The story is full of twists and turns and hilarity to find out what is going on. Essie is mentally spry and will stop at nothing to solve the case with out getting caught. The author Ms. Rockwell certainly catches the atmosphere of life in a retirement residence with sensitivity and and humor and paints great characters in Essie and her friends as well as the staff.  –  Karen H. Vaughan

I wasnt sure how I would like a book centered on a cast of older characters, however, this novel was splendid! The twist and turns, and all the possible endings made this novel hard to stop reading. I would definitely recommend others to read if they enjoy witty, thrill-thicked artistry.  –  “12playmia”

One Reviewer Notes:
I had the pleasure of reading `Bingoed' by Patricia Rockwell, a novel about a 90 year old super sleuth named Essie Cobb. Essie and her "partners in crime" suspect that foul play is involved when one of their fellow residents at Happy Haven Assisted Living Facility collapses and falls into a coma after winning at Bingo. The theories run rampant when spry Essie and her friends put their mind to solving this mystery. Mrs. Rockwell hit a homerun with `Bingoed'. The storyline will keep you coming back for more. This is definitely a mystery read that you don't want to miss. Curl up with a cozy blanket for this cozy read... Patricia Rockwell is a quick rising author, whose writing will captivate you. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. Don't miss out on the adventures that Essie Cobb and her quick witted friends "wheel" themselves into. This page turner will make you laugh out loud, as well as keep you guessing and waiting to see what will come next. I'm anticipating reading more about Essie's adventures.
