Monique Domovitch’s debut novel, Scorpio Rising, is a compelling tale filled with finely etched characters and a superb understanding of the power of ambition. Scorpio Rising promises to resonate with all who once had a dream.
One Reviewer Notes:
This author has a wonderful way of weaving a story - particularly in the way she meticulously paints little details that give such colour and presence to the characters that they truly come alive. It was a very engaging read. The ending felt a little abrupt but mostly because I wasn't ready to say good bye to the characters and leave their story. I look forward to the sequel!

Reviewed by Anne B. for Readers Favorite:

I found this book quite enticing and very difficult to put down. In fact I read it in one morning. The lead characters Brigitte and Alex are quite captivating and work well together. Domovitch is a master of characterization, even developing the cast of secondary characters. This would make a great movie. This plot has it all drama dealing with life in general, greed, and deception. This book plays on the readers emotions, with an ending that leaves the reader ready to jump into the sequel. If you enjoy a good drama, this is the book for you.

Even as a young man during the early 1950’s, Alex Ivanov’s is determined to leave his life of poverty and become rich. He soon finds, however, that in order to achieve his dreams he must make some sacrifices. Thousands of miles away, in Paris, beautiful Brigitte Dartois escapes from her abusive childhood and struggles to make it on her own. But when fame comes knocking, it also brings dangers from the past.
Some people have ambitions so great that they will trample on anything and anyone to achieve it. Born in Brooklyn from an embittered mother, Alexander Ivanov climbs his way to a better life in New York. Thousands of miles away, beautiful Brigitte Dartois also has big dreams and raging ambitions. Scorpio Rising is an American saga, the story of two people whose single-minded obsessions are put to the test when they meet.

Heads Up! You Have Until Sunday to Enter This Week’s Brand New KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes, Sponsored by Monique Domovitch, author of SCORPIO RISING

2011 is behind us, and the 13 Kindle Fires that we gave away to fans of our Kindle Nation Daily Facebook page are just a distant memory … except to the 13 winners, each of whom is probably enjoying her (or his) new Kindle Fire at this very moment, despite having told us in just about every case that “I’ve never won anything before!”

But here we are in 2012 with plans to give away another brand new Kindle Fire every week, and the question is … “Why not you?”

That’s right, we’re going to give away over 50 Kindle Fire tablets in 2012, and if you think about it, you stand a very good chance of winning one, compared to just about any other Sweepstakes you can imagine. We think big here at Kindle Nation Daily, but the truth is that we’re strictly small potatoes compared the kind of lotteries that we all hear about with millions of entries. We’re lucky if we have a few thousand entries — last week we had 3,944. So if you make a commitment to yourself to enter every week of 2012, you’d have to say that your chances are pretty good.

And we’re firm believers that the cosmos tilts slightly to favor people who do nice things like supporting our sponsors, so we hope you will act now to download Monique Domovitch’s novel Scorpio Rising … while it is free!

That’s right – not only is Monique sponsoring this week’s Kindle Fire sweepstakes, but she is also offering Scorpio Rising absolutely free.

But it will not last long, so please act tonight. Here’s the scoop:

When the cost of love is the loss of success, which would you choose?

Scorpio Rising

While you’re at it, pick up the next in this suspenseful series, The Sting of the Scorpio, for just $1.99!

And here are the details on the Kindle Nation Week #2 KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes:

There’s no purchase required, but we do need you to go to our Kindle Nation Facebook page and “Like” us. From the reviewers:

I loved the building up of the characters Alex and Brigitte. The whole of the story is giving the reader a detailed look at who the characters are and what drives them to do what they do. I loved knowing the characters so well. The story built to such a point that it was inevitable that the two main characters, Alex and Brigitte would meet and come together. Alex and Brigitte each had a drive to be more than what life was handing them. On separate life journeys they moved forward against all odds to finally come to the same point. Great story. Loved every minute of it. –Goodreads

A radical and brilliant departure for Margaret Atwood, this story is told with such power that the reader will be unable to forget its images and its forecast. Set in the near future, it describes life in what was once the United States, now called the Republic of Gilead, a monotheocracy that has reacted to social unrest by reverting to a society of repressive intolerance.

Did You Win a Kindle Fire Today? If Your Name is Steve Wisener You Did! If Not, You Can Enter a Brand New KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes Right Now!

Did You Win a Kindle Fire Today? If Your Name is Steve Wisener You Did! If Not, You Can Enter a Brand New KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes Right Now!

Okay, it’s Monday afternoon in Kindle Nation, so we’ve got good news and bad news. And then we’ve got some more good news.

For the past week, the Scorpio series that begins with Monique Domovitch’s 5-star American saga Scorpio Rising has been helping us all out by sponsoring Week #3 of our Kindle Nation KINDLE FIRE Sweepstakes.

We had a new record of  2,277 entries, and we had hundreds of winners.

Well, of course we had one big GRAND PRIZE winner. Kindle Nation citizen Steve Wisener of Northfield, Minnesota was randomly selected from all the entries to win a KINDLE FIRE tablet. We connected with Steve last night via email and he wrote back to us: “I’m so excited!! I’ve been loving the weekly contests and so far I’ve picked up 3 great new books from the sponsors of each weeks
drawing. So I was already feeling like a winner!”

But hundreds of other participants are big winners, too, because they have had a chance to discover author Monique Domovitch. After all, it’s all about the reading here at Kindle Nation. (And just in case you are wondering, Monique paid the full cost of Steve’s new Kindle Fire. Every penny. What’s that? Did you ask me to repeat the links to Monique’s Scorpio series in the Kindle Store? Okay then. Thanks for asking! The Fire is slated to ship on November 15, and Amazon has confirmed for us that Steve’s will arrive at his home on November 16!)

Those who haven’t won a Kindle Fire yet — yep, there’s that bad news we mentioned — will not have to wallow in despair for long. Why? Because we have already opened up our Kindle Nation Week #4 KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes. The Week #4 Sweepstakes runs until noon on Sunday November 6 , and entry details can be found at the end of this post.

But there’s another changing of the guard that we would be remiss not to mention: we have a brand new sponsor for Week #4, and those who have yet to discover Jack Harney’s true 5-star thriller THE MILLSTONE PROPHECY are in for a special treat at the equally terrific price of just $2.99! 17 straight Amazon reviewers have weighed in with rave reviews, and NYT’s best selling author Mary Jane Clark praised Harney’s page-turner on her Facebook page!

“On 9-13-2011, the Center for Constitutional Rights filed an 84 page complaint with the International Court at the Hague against the Vatican, the Pope and other named individuals for Crimes Against Humanity. In
support of
The Millstone Prophecy, NY Times best selling author, Mary Jane Clark, wrote on her Facebook page, ‘It’s as if Jack Harney had a crystal ball!'”
Here’s the set-up:
Famed N.Y.P.D. Lieutenant, Dax McGowan, attempts to track down and kill the pedophile priest who caused his daughter’s suicide. A citywide foot race soon turns into an international manhunt, taking Dax to the gates of Vatican City and beyond with startling results. An intransigent and deceitful church hierarchy, a politically weakened D.A.’s response, and mysterious assassins dispatched to “take him down” thwart his every move.
Jack Harney

One Reviewer Notes:

“Jack Harney has crafted a clever page-turner with a cast of solid, persuasive characters who take the reader into the sordid underbelly of the Roman Catholic Church. Although a work of fiction, this intriguing mystery exposes many facts regarding the immoral machinations employed by Catholic hierarchies to protect and hide abusive priests. As the parent of a child abused by a priest, I could easily relate to both the heartache and the rage that gripped the hero, Dax McGowan, as he embarked on an international manhunt to locate the pedophile priest responsible for his young daughter’s suicide. “

So … is that it?

Of course not!

Here are the details on the Kindle Nation Week #4 KINDLE FIRE Giveaway Sweepstakes:

There’s no purchase required, but we do need you to go to our Kindle Nation Facebook page and “Like” us. Give the page a few seconds to load, because for some reason it takes a little longer.

Then just scroll down and follow the prompts to enter the sweepstakes, and you’re done! (Of course, if you want to really improve your chances of winning by multiplying your good fortune by your good karma, we hope you’ll take a page from grand prize winner Steve Wisener’s book and pick up both The Millstone Prophecy and Scorpio Rising. But like we say, there’s no purchase necessary.)

It’s that simple.

Good luck. And happy reading!
