Here’s the set-up:

Sepphoris, Israel, 1995: Henry and Alice Cross, Harvard scholars leading an archaeological dig, discover clay tablets recording a family’s epic history from Moses through Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Tablets raise serious questions about the foundations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Was Moses a servant of God or a charlatan? What did Jesus want? What were Mary’s secrets? The discovery holds many answers. Henry and Alice call their find the Jesus Tablets.

News of the discovery leads to behind-the -scenes conflicts among world powers, some willing to kill either to suppress or reveal the evidence. The American President, the Israeli Prime Minister, the Pope, a Hamas commander, Jesuits, and agents with unknown allegiances all scheme to control the Tablets. Henry and Alice’s struggle to protect what they’ve unearthed takes them from Israel to Washington, D.C. as they survive shocking murders of innocent friends. Will they and the Tablets survive? How important is the truth? Will a Machiavellian solution to conflict in the Middle East actually work? You are invited to enter the complex labyrinth of Remarkable Silence.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“I enjoyed this book so much and feel that it’s premise is so very timely. The twists and turns and skillful weaving of society and religion and politics almost makes us forget this is a novel.”

“Great Read!!! Karen Wills keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout! Some may be offended with the subject matter, but there is food for thought here. I found it amazing to what ends organizations & people will go to suppress the truth (although this is a novel, not an exposition).”

Photographs.
Images. Snapshots in time.
This is how I experience my life. I’ve hidden behind my camera and viewed the world through the lens. I watch other people live their lives. I’ve given up on my dreams, and sheltered my heart from love; because both have given me nothing but pain. Even thinking about opening myself up, sends my fears into overdrive. It’s better to be safe, than to take a risk and have your life shattered into pieces alongside your heart. This is what I believed.Dangerous.

Risks. Fear Nothing.

I live for the rush of adrenaline I get when I work my stunts. Nothing else matters but the feel of my heart pounding when I challenge the line between life and death. Women are nothing more than a distraction; they use me for my connections, as I use them to escape the pain of my past before moving on to my next adrenaline fix. My life is consumed with excitement, danger and risks–it’s all I needed.

Denials.

Fear. The complete wrong time.

Jasmin and Jet will face off over photos, stunts and the truth hidden in their hearts. The last person Jasmin wants to be with is a man who takes life for granted. Jet wants to give his heart to no one; especially one who might not understand the secrets that haunt him. Despite their protests, Jasmin’s and Jet’s lives tangle; the threads of love and fear bind them. Between their passions and their pasts, they fight to hang onto each other . . . but will the stakes be too high when faced with the ultimate sacrifice?

This is a 75,000+ word novel.

** 18+ for adult situations, sexual situations and language.

Six creepy, atmospheric, spine-tingling stories by Rayne Hall.

Volume 1 contains ‘Only A Fool’, ‘Four Bony Hands’, ‘The Black Boar’, ‘Double Rainbows’, ‘Druid Stones’ and ‘Burning’.

These stories are more creepy and psychological than violent and gory. However, they may not be suitable for young readers without parental guidance.

These horror stories have been previously published in magazines, ezines, printed books and anthologies. British spellings. Revised edition July 2013.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“Highly recommended! This is a well-crafted collection of scary stories with different themes and settings.”

“Not only are the stories intense, but the psychological aspect is very important. The stories help us to look at our own narrow views and that can be often more disturbing than what’s external. I’ll be picking up volume 2, but won’t read them late at night.”

“These dark tales delve into the human psyche and explore how we behave when these fears take control… This short story collection was a great read.”

A Historical, Gothic Romance With a Hint of Humor … Lucinda Elliot’s That Scoundrel Émile Dubois is Just 99 Cents Now on Kindle

That Scoundrel Émile Dubois

by Lucinda Elliot

4.1 stars – 14 Reviews
Text-to-Speech and Lending: Enabled
Here’s the set-up:

When Sophie de Courcy, the often foolishly romantic and bored but patient companion to the Dowager Countess of Ruthin, marries her long-time hero, the dashing but rascally French émigré Émile Dubois, she has more excitement than she ever wanted as she is catapulted into Gothic adventure with man vampires and time warps.

With the help of her dauntless maid Agnes – who combines Tarot reading with a no-nonsense attitude – and whose own love interest is Émile’s swaggering valet and former accomplice, Georges – Sophie must come to terms with Émile’s criminal past and help free him from the machinations of their evil neighbours the Kenrick’s.

Set during the French Revolution in North Wales and in war torn France, this story is full of lively humour and combines believable characters and over-the-top Gothic adventure as a pair of down to earth eighteenth century villains become incongruously caught up in occult happenings. This darkly funny, sometimes sad and often romantic tale will captivate readers who enjoy well written steampunk and who love novels in the Gothic tradition.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“… A feel-good read with bags of Gothic-style adventure.”

“…It had humor, and an ending that tied up all loose ends, if you like vampires or historical fiction I would highly recommend this book.”

“This book is hard to put down and every page teases you more and makes you turn to the next.”

About The Author

Lucinda Elliot was born in England and loves writing Gothic stories – as she grew up living in a series of isolated old houses, in Buckinghamshire, Devonshire and North Wales amongst other places that would make perfect settings for such stories, that may not be surprising.

After that she lived and worked in London for many years, and now lives in mid Wales with her family, and has greatly improved her Welsh, but there is a long way to go…

She loves working out and weight training, and was once a Sportsfighter (long since retired). She likes body sculpting, too. She shows a geeky streak in her interests such as classic novels, history and conservation.

She loves creating strong female characters to provide an effective counterpoint to the gung-ho males. She can’t resist putting humour into all of her writing, dark or otherwise. When reading ‘That Scoundrel Emile Dubois’ she hopes you will laugh out loud as well as shudder.

Authors always have worked out far more about their characters than they can possibly show in a book, even a longish one – not to mention all that clutter in their heads gleaned from historical research, etc. Her blog fills in these sorts of details about her characters.

Lucinda Elliot hopes you will visit her blog on [http://sophieandemile.wordpress.com/] if you would like to find out more about the background to this book, the characters themselves, her other writing, etc.

Here's the set-up:
A new flu strain has been spreading across Africa, Europe, and Asia. Disturbing news footage is flooding the cable news channels. People are worried. People are frightened. But Zed Zane is oblivious.

Zed needs to borrow rent money from his parents. He gets up Sunday morning, drinks enough tequila to stifle his pride and heads to his mom’s house for a lunch of begging, again.

But something is wrong. There’s blood in the foyer. His mother’s corpse is on the living room floor. Zed’s stepdad, Dan is wild with crazy-eyed violence and attacks Zed when he comes into the house. They struggle into the kitchen. Dan’s yellow teeth tear at Zed’s arm but Zed grabs a knife and stabs Dan, thirty-seven times, or so the police later say.

With infection burning in his blood, Zed is arrested for murder but the world is falling apart and he soon finds himself back on the street, fighting for his life among the infected who would kill him and the normal people, who fear him.
One Reviewer Notes:
I am truly impressed with Bobby Adair's Slow Burn: Zero Day. It is one of the best pieces of zombie fiction I've ever read! Adair's writing style is matter-of-fact and honest, but he still has a strong sense of prosody and his diction is right on point. The book kicks right into action, skipping the often unnecessary details while still painting a vivid image of the setting and characters. There is a sense of immediacy about the book that grabs you by your shirt collar and doesn't let go! The book is highly visceral, gritty, and raw, but rather than it being gratuitous in terms of violence or gore, it actually uses these elements on a philosophical level as well as through literary tone. His ability to weave sardonic humour throughout the book yet still maintain a grave atmosphere illustrates a very advanced style of writing. The fast-paced action and suspense in Slow Burn had me hooked from the very first page to the very last.

Here’s the set-up:

The second thriller in the Boyd Chailland series.

Boyd Chailland evolved after his adventure in The Other Pilot. He took a beating in that tale, and he’s wary. Yet, he needs action; more action than just flying high performance fighters and training to be in the first wave in the next war. When General Ferguson shows up at Boyd’s wing commander’s office with a Top Secret assignment, he takes it without asking what it is. It’s an international thrill ride of bad actors and close calls.

Some people died on an isolated island in the Indian Ocean after developing a secret vaccine for the world’s most deadly virus; Ebola. Boyd is the team leader to find out who and why. What a team it is; Colonel Joe Smith, shy army pathologist and world expert on Ebola, Raybon Clive and Davann Goodman, disabled vets flying smuggled booze into Muslim Mombasa in an old seaplane, Pamela Prescott, lawyer and FBI agent with a drinking problem, and MacDonnald Wilde, paroled felon and con man.

The trail of death, betrayal, and bad intentions leads from jihadists in Africa to diamond brokers in Europe, to bankers in South Carolina, and finally to the century old sailing yacht Chardonnay and her owner, the notorious European merchant banker Michelle Meilland. Supported by Strategic Command’s Proliferation Security Initiative command center at Ft. Belvoir in suburban Washington, DC, Boyd is backed up by the authority and resources of the entire U.S. government, yet that’s not enough and when the chips are down, it’s just Boyd Chailland. The plot accelerates across the Atlantic in hurricane season as the forces of evil stay one jump ahead of America’s slow moving response to an action packed climax in the Azores.

This story has many heroes and villains; all well meaning, all flawed. But, there’s only one devil on Chardonnay.

5-Star Amazon Reviews

“… If you love airplanes, ships, medical thrillers or just a good story that has scary plausibility, this book is for you.”

“…Author Ed Baldwin constructs a cast of exceptional characters while weaving a fascinating tale into and through the diverse worlds of medical science, banking, international trade and terrorists. From Africa to South Carolina to the Azores, Ed pulls the reader into these vastly different geostrategic areas. Ed Baldwin has again constructed a terrific fast-paced, understandable and thoroughly entertaining tale.”

About The Author

Ed Baldwin writes adventure stories. He has lived in every southern state except Mississippi, and he spent the night in jail there once. That was the origin of his first novel, “Bookman,” which is about a door to door salesman traveling the Mid-South during the turbulent 1960’s.

Ed was a small town family doctor and flight surgeon in the Colorado Air National Guard when he was recalled to active duty for the first Persian Gulf War in 1991. Already a published author, he spent the next 19 years seeking assignments and experiences he could use to write adventure fiction. By the time he retired in 2009 Ed had served air crew duty over every continent except Antarctica and in nearly every Air Force aircraft. His assignments included the Pentagon, Space Command, Strategic Command, and the Air Force Flight Test Center, and his security clearance had letters after Top Secret.

Ed’s critically acclaimed second novel, “The Other Pilot” was published by Brasfield Books in 2012. It’s a political action thriller with a military aviation background. “The Devil on Chardonnay,” released in 2013 brings back Capt. Boyd Chailland as Strategic Command’s Counter Proliferation Task Force undercover operator.

Ed will be traveling in Central Asia to gather additional material for the third novel in the Boyd Chailland series, “The Mingrelian.” Armenia and the Republic of Georgia are the exotic locations for this scariest of all the Chailland stories. Watch for it in early 2014.
